First book in the Series

This was my first Millenia Black's book. Raindrops on Roses is book one of the Favorite Things Trilogy. This short story is fast paced and suspenseful. The storyline has angst, drama, secrets, and lies. Priscilla and Michael share an instant attraction, and a sizzling chemistry. This story has triggers (cheating), and ends with a cliffhanger. Sharon Lacey did a good job with the narration. Looking forward to listen to the next installment in the Series, Blue Satin Sashes. I was given a free review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Cheating, Lies/Deception, Connection/Chemistry

In walks Michael, young, talented, compassionate, and a cheater. That was not on the top of my list of qualities for a strong interesting leading man. Michael lacked a strong back bone, but he did find his strong streak of stubbornness in the end. Priscilla was young, sweet, quiet, and heart-brokenly grieving. She had her own faults and less than stellar choices in life, but never did she think falling in love at the lowest point in her life would turn out the way this did.

Looking at this short first installment of this three part trilogy, I would say that is has possibilities. There were stop-gaps. There were stilted areas. There were highlight areas.

Narration. Sharon Lacey pulled off the female characters with effective efficiency, but the male counterparts were not so convincing. After getting past the audio sound that was like being in a tunnel the ebb and flow of the narration was just that. I did not feel any more connected to the story than if I had read it myself.

Raindrops on Roses by Millenia Black is a suspenseful novel that moves pretty quickly. I listened to the Audio book narrated by Sharon Lacey. I enjoyed the story but felt it moved a little too quickly for my liking... wishing the author stretched it out a little more. I liked the characters as well as the plot. FYI, there is some cheating and it ends in a cliffhanger.

Enjoyable Story!

What did you like best about this story?

The honest depiction of a woman scorned. The entire gamut of emotions... Disbelief. Shock, Betrayal. Anger. Pain. Desperation. Vengeance.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes!

Any additional comments?

The story intrigued me from the start and had me eager to find out what would happen next. Surprisingly, the character that intrigued and interested me the most wasn’t the hero or the heroine — it was Amber. Relationships and human emotions aren’t black and white. They are very complicated and at times irrational. I felt sorry for Amber. Don’t get me wrong - nothing excuses the crap she pulled, but it came from a very sad and desperate place. No one wants to be replaced, discarded, and rejected.Although I liked the heroine Priscilla, I just couldn’t warm up to Michael. In fact — I don’t like him at all! I don’t care for the things he’s done, and although he knows he did wrong and contributed to someone else’s pain, it seems like he thinks he can walk away unscathed and without any blowback. No… I don’t think so, buddy. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the “Raindrops on Roses” audiobook. I will definitely continue the “My Favorite Things” trilogy, and I’ve already started looking into Ms. Black’s previous books.

It's Nice

Michael has been living day to day going on a routine that's expected of him. It's not until he meets Pricilla that he realizes that he's not really happy anymore. He hasn't been happy for a long time. He decides to leave it all behind. For her. Priscilla is devastated. Her grandmother has passed away. She raised Priscilla after rescuing her and her brother from their abusive mother. She meets Michael and falls hard for him. Amber is in love with Michael. She has been with him for over a decade. She will do whatever it takes to keep him with her. Including sabotaging his happiness. The cover is beautiful. The book is very easy to follow along with. It's a very short and easy read. I read it all in one sitting. I mean I guess listening to it in audiobook made that very much easier. Not that it wouldn't have been easy to read alone. It was a really nice and adorable story. I know that many readers will enjoy this story very much. Especially those who love the triangle type romances. I liked this book, but I didn't love it. I don't really know right now if I will be finishing the trilogy. It's something to think about. There's nothing really horribly wrong with it. I just didn't really get anything from it. I feel like I'd have to reread the first book again when I do get around to reading any sequels. There's nothing really memorable. The story flows nicely, but there's no real flare. I can't explain it. This book was narrated by Sharon Lacey. She did a pretty impressive job. It was quite obvious that she really got into the story as she went. I think that helped me not get too bored with the story. There's nothing really noteworthy to point out specifically. I am curious to hear other books she's narrated. I'm sure she does just as fantastic with them as well. I really wanted to enjoy this book. The flow of the story is nice and simple. It's a very short and easy read. It just missed something. I can't quite put my finger on it. I'm not saying that I will not continue on with the trilogy, but if I do, it won't be right away. I won't discourage others from reading the book just because I personally didn't enjoy it all that much. I encourage everybody to give it a chance that thinks they might enjoy it.
