Story
Matheus Taylor didn't ask to be murdered. To be fair, the percentage of people actually asking to be murdered is probably small enough to be safely ignored, but he felt it was worth stating regardless. His life might have been ordinary, but it was his life and he wasn't done with it yet. Quin didn't care. A 1,700-year-old Roman, Quintus Livius Saturnius had a different view of morality than most people. Killing Matheus and hijacking his undead existence seemed perfectly acceptable to him.

Story
It’s really hard to pretend like life is normal when you’re staring a monster in the eyes, though he’s both tempting and irritating in his human form. I put my days as a hunter behind me, unable to cope with the death and pain anymore, to become an upstanding citizen and for what? To assist Lake, a man who claims he’s not a monster but keeps talking about me like I’m edible and–even worse–wants to woo me?

Though I was born with the ability to see the dead, I struggled with it until my brother was killed and his ghost was left behind. Now, I’m determined to figure out who is responsible for his death…the problem is that Detective Maddox Booker, the one working the case, is a grumpy and stubborn man who wants nothing to do with me and definitely doesn’t believe in ghosts. It doesn’t help that I keep finding myself looking ridiculous in front of the detective, thanks to interfering ghosts who enjoy laughing at my expense.

Big City is supposedly the place where dreams come true. As someone just trying to live my life, I can tell you it’s more like a recurring nightmare where dreams get c*ckblocked at every turn. Especially if you’re a supervillain like me. The irony is that I have zero powers, despite coming from purebred villain stock, but try telling that to Big City’s beloved hero, Captain Masculine.

Story
Getting into the vampire-only detective unit was the easy part. What’s going to be more difficult is dealing with my new partner - an ancient vampire who keeps threatening to eat me. The unit has never had a human in it. Marcus - or, as I like to call him: Fangy McFangface - would really prefer to keep it that way. He’s grumpy, short-tempered, and broody, but I have a way with words, and I know he’s starting to like me, even if he swears he’s not.

Fun Fun Fun
This series is a lot of fun. Matheus is a funny character, a new vampire trying to figure this all out. Instead he keeps getting captured or in other trouble. Oh and he's also trying to take down his father who captures and tortures Vamps. Separated from Quinn, it's not as easy as he thought. The dialogue is funny, and James Patrick Cronin's delivery is so great, he really captures all the wit and sarcasm of this character. His portrayal of the other characters is very entertaining as well. If you like Vampire stories, and some comedy, this is for you.

You did it again!
Any additional comments?
I just wanted somebody to slap the crap out of Mathis over and over many times but you manage to have him (and the followers) slap himself properly and man up. You added such wonderful humor to this book, Joan has become one my favorite side characters, and Freddy showing up made me shiva' with anticipation, and the cliff hanger at the end only makes for anticipation of the next more delicious. I like the way you are handling the gay sex too...not too much, but just enough. James, narration was superb again. Listener, I say get it if you liked the first one, and get ready to giggle and at times hang on to the edge of your seat...this series has to be heard in order. It is definitely not a stand alone by book series. Worth it if you like something different about vampires.

Great Great Great
Where does Real Vampires Do It in the Dark rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Second only to the first in the series.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Matheus because of his sarcastic humorous wit.
Which character – as performed by James Patrick Cronin – was your favorite?
Matheus, and it is very important that James Patrick Cronin continues to narrate the series. He is fantastic.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The most exciting, sarcastically witty and suspenseful vampire movie ever!
Any additional comments?
James Patrick Cronin makes every character come to life in this great series by Amy Fecteau. A great read and a fantastic listen.

Compelling characters, comedy & drama
The narration and inner monologue of our main character is funny and fascinating. All of the characters are uniquely written and the reader does a good job of distinguishing them with his voice and cadence.
There is an element of mistery to the characters that holds you as much as the main story. I want to learn more about the characters and see where the story takes them.

This sequel highly exceeds the original book
Pacing is goodand there is a plot. There are a great number of ancillary characters and supporting characters which give the story much more width in filling out the world the main characters are living in. I don't like intimate sex because in reading M/M books because it gets to be boring with constant repetition. In this book the sex takes place out of view of the reader for which I was extremely grateful. If you like werewolves, succubi, and above all vampires this is great series.
