About this listen

The US has been invaded - if many dozens of eyewitnesses are to be believed - by upright, canine creatures that look like traditional werewolves and act as if they own our woods, fields, and highways. Sightings from coast to coast dating back to the 1930s compel us to ask exactly what these beasts are, and what they want.

Researcher, author, and newspaper reporter Linda S. Godfrey has been tracking the man-wolf since the early 1990s. In Real Wolfmen, she presents the only large-scale cataloging and investigation of reports of modern sightings of anomalous, upright canids.

First-person accounts from Godfrey's witnesses - who have encountered these creatures everywhere from outside their car windows to face-to-face on a late night stroll - describe the same human-sized canines: They are able to walk upright and hold food in their paws, interact fearlessly with humans, and suddenly and mysteriously disappear.

Godfrey explores the most compelling cases from the modern history of such sightings, along with the latest reports, and undertakes a thorough exploration of the nature and possible origins of the creature.

Great book, not a fan of the narrator.

I’ve been a fan of Linda Godfrey for years and was excited to see her works on Audible. Greatly enjoyed the story itself, but the narrator seems use a insulting and stereotypical voice when reading direct quotes from some of the witnesses, particularly men from rural areas. It probably wasn’t necessary to make some of these people sound like hicks.

Typical Linda Godfrey

Being such a contravercial subject, this book will make a believer out of most skeptics. I find the amount of detailed sightings tells us that there is something going on that goes beyond human understanding!

Real Wolfmen

How did this narration make it through the production process? Audible dropped the ball on this one. This is the worst reader voice I ever heard. She takes a loud gasp between every sentence! I bought this without listening to the sample because I have amost all of Godfrey's cryptid books on Audible and never had an objection. I know I won't be able to listen to it. I am hoping they will refund my credit to use on a better book. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.

Narrator has Asthma?

I only started this listen and I have to admit it is going to take getting used to, or subconsciously blanking out a characteristic of the narrator. Every few words, the narrator takes in a sharp breath that is clearly audible. It is one of those situations where it gets annoying right away to a listener - in the same manner as squeaks on a chalkboard.
Wish me luck! I'll give it a fair chance. Hopefully, I'll get used to it to the point where I no longer notice it!
