About this listen

The number-one New York Times best-selling series returns with Mitch Rapp racing against the clock to take down Russia's ailing leader before he invades the Baltics.

When Max Krupin - Russia's leader - discovers that his kidney cancer has spread to his brain, he's determined to hide his diagnosis. He begins by getting rid of anyone threatening to him - as well as creating chaos in the region to keep the world's attention diverted. Soon, Krupin's illness becomes serious enough that he needs a more dramatic diversion, prompting him to invade the Baltics.

Desperate to understand what's causing Krupin's uncharacteristically erratic behavior and Russia's aggressive moves in the region, America begins working with Russia's disgraced prime minister to stage a coup. Its success relies on Mitch Rapp's ability to successfully find and quietly get rid of the ailing president before Europe is drawn into a war with a man who has nothing to lose.

For fans of "black-ops thrillers, Mitch Rapp continues to be among the best of the best" (Booklist, starred review).

After four Mitch Rapp series by Kyle Mills I continue to be impressed by his ability to write in the style of Vince Flynn. George Guidall's narration is even more terrific when on considers he is an octogenarian. For a more complete review of RED WAR read that of top reviewer Shelley.

Not my favorite in the series but still 5 star

The Putin-like Krupin is truly mad, and not just from his cancer. George Guidall is back as narrator, though Scott Brick is an excellent one, it's good to hear Guidall again. A great storyline, and hope we get more from Kyle in the future.

Mitch Rapp is back.

Fun read

Shorter than I expected, but well written, and expertly performed. Guidall is a true master and personifies Mitch Rapp in all his glory. No one does it better!

Another Winner!

I enjoyed Red War it did not fail to entertain. It seems a little bit shorter than most Mitch Rapp books though.

I enjoy the narrator immensely. He’s very good.

Kyle Mills has done a great job continuing this series for the late Vince Flynn. Red War is another fine addition to the collection, full of the fun combination of tension and excitement that we've come to expect from the Rapp series. Unfortunately I found myself distracted at times by the narration. George Guidall has a fine voice, and there is no issue with the reading itself...but his voice simply doesn't fit the characters very well. Not sure how to say it politely, but his voice is just too old. Rapp, Coleman, and company are no spring chickens anymore, but Mr Guidall makes them sound like they are telling tall tales from the rocking chair on the front porch. No doubt he would make a fine addition to many other novels, but it just doesn't fit this story for me.

Another Good Mitch Rapp Story
