About this listen

FBI Agent Alexander King has a special gift for catching vicious predators. He gets inside the twisted minds of psychopaths and hunts them down. However, this case in a small Georgia town is challenging his skills.

A serial killer named the Angel Maker has kidnapped and killed six little Black girls. Local police did a lackluster investigation, thinking the girls were initially runaways. The Black community believes the case is racially motivated and that the force ignored all the clues. Tensions rise on both sides of town, threatening riots and more unrest.

In steps FBI Agent Haven Barron. She happens to be from the town and knows most of the victims’ parents. She believes she can catch the killer before he makes it to girl number seven. Alexander thinks she’s a beautiful distraction who could get in the way. Headstrong and determined to save her town, Haven thinks he can keep his opinions to himself.

It’s a rough start with these two unwilling partners. Still, they race to find the murderer, discovering terrifying clues and unraveling shocking secrets from the town’s past. But as this pair spends more time together, sparks fly and a forbidden attraction looms between them. Meanwhile, the psycho is watching them both.

Can they catch this killer? Or will the Angel Maker grab them?

Awesome story, okay narration.

This story was FANTASTIC! Twists and turns, well researched and kept me guessing. Logical plot points and very interesting. It was another reliably great Kenya Wright book!

The female narrator was a bit off, and the male narrator even more so. She was intense in places that took me out of the story for a second or two, but I was able to get back into it easily. Early on, I realized the male narrator was black and it distracted me every time he spoke. I kept thinking, "Why use a black narrator when most of the male characters aren't black?" He has a lovely voice but his speech patterns/cadence are recognizably black, to the point that I noticed it without even meaning to. It was a strange choice.

Definitely would be a good read in a physical book, and I will probably keep the audiobook, but I wasn't able to stay fully immersed in the story because of the narration.

Great Story

I loved the characters. This was a good story but I think the relationship went extremely fast. I look forward to reading another one of Kenya’s books.

Good Story

I didn’t see the ending coming but I wish they would’ve gotten more into what happened to the other girls and exactly how many girls the Pastor had killed. But still good story

Good Book with the wrong narrators

At the beginning of the book, Lacy makes me LOL, then tragedy strikes; I usually like Leon’s narration; however, he is not the appropriate narrator for this book. The seriousness of the content is not done justice by the way narration was done, no feeling, no outrage. Need to have someone that can truly bring the characters of this book to life to make this story great. The storyline is powerful.

Exceptional r3ad

Great story. Very suspenseful. My only complaint was the narrator. She read very well but her nasal tone took away from a lot of the dialog.

enjoyed

this is one of Kenya's best books... the sex didn't overpower the story. i could easily see this in the same standing as a James Patterson book.
