A boy seeking adventure... A world that's dying... A war that may have no winners...

Thomas longs to escape the drudgery of farm life, dreaming of adventure and running away from his demanding parents.

Planet Remeon is on the brink of destruction, fighting a crippling disease that threatens to wipe out their civilization.

Thrust into their world, Thomas is caught in the middle of telepathic mind games between the Day Watchers and the Night Dwellers.

I'm starting to listen to more audiobooks so I can experience books on the way home from work in my car. I started this one on the way home from work Friday and finished by Sunday night. It was quite a unique read, and not at all what I expected from reading the synopsis or looking at the cover. But the characters and story kept my interest throughout and the reader's voice was such that it didn't take away from the story in any way, in fact, it complimented it. I'm looking forward to more books by this author.

I Enjoyed It Very Much

The narration was fine, minus the points where you could hear where it was edited. the sound would change, but was only jarring for a moment.

The story seemed very YA, which is fine, as I love everything. but one scene toward the end with the mom and dad felt out of place, and moved it to maybe PG-13. Nothing gratuitous, but really had no place in the story. Overall, an okay read for an Audible selection. Felt the sci-fi aspect could use a one up though, maybe some quirky high tech weaponry, even if it's in the '40's, to add that evolved species feel.

cross between YA and adult

This story is one many might relate to. A young man named Thomas from the country who is nearly grown is thrown into an impossible situation where he gets the chance to prove himself or fail an entire race of people. The stakes are certainly high and the deviation from the 1940s to another world was awesome and exhilarating. Classic sci-fi fan fans will rejoice!

Coming of age with a twist

I loved the story and the characters, and the reader did a good job bringing the story and characters to life. I enjoyed listening to this audiobook during my workout. The workout went by faster and the book was over too soon. looking forward to another novel in this series.
