Having escaped from the Processor and with the truth behind the Eastern Order finally revealed, Kress and her fellow Seventeens go on the run. Guided by Render, they find themselves in the mountains where they encounter a group of fellow teenagers who have escaped from another small town like the Valta. Finding a clue that there may be a resistance movement in San Francisco, the Seventeens complete a dangerous, enemy-filled journey west. Joining forces with the Insubordinates, a guerrilla army of counter-insurgents led by an unexpected but familiar field general, Kress and her Conspiracy set out to expose the government’s lies about the Eastern Order and to reclaim the democracy so many of them and their families died trying to protect.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series so far. Has a good pace and there’s less bogging down of descriptions of many details in this book so it has a better paste in the first one. Look forward to listening to the third one. And I have a sneaky suspicion about render lol

Narrator was much better. Story keeps me intrigue

I know that the target audience for this book is younger. I usually still enjoy a dystopian book and I did listen to both the first and second book. there isn't anything wrong with them, but I do think that they didn't keep my attention as a older adult listener. just wanted to share for other adult listeners.

for younger audience

I have really enjoyed the growth and development of the characters in the first two books in this series. It is a great storyline.

This book was even more enjoyable than the first! I seriously love the main characters and want all of the best things for them in their lives. Nothing felt rushed in the story and all the right questions were answered leaving even more to be wanted in the next book!!!

My one issue is with a character named Wisp. I'm so sorry, but she is the one unrealistic, in my mind, character to rise up as a "leader" the way she does. All other characters are flawless in their imperfect glory, but Wisp... a child as young as her with no real connections or anything of substance to offer these well off rebels just doesn't make sense to have her in charge. Helping them? Absolutely, but not leading.

If you want a good series with relatable characters with a unique twist on a dystopia please do not hesitate to try K.A. Rileys series!!! These books are so incredible and are just right for a YA audience. As an adult, I found them just as enjoyable as my typical books preferences, but I love that these are books I would be so glad to share with my children without hesitation even at at a young age!

The adventure is real and the emotions displayed by the characters are felt deeply. You will not be disappointed.

Fantastic Follow Up!

Much better person reading this book than the first book. Thank you for switching. Other than that I love both books. Can’t wait until the next one.

This book out too much. Couldn’t make it through the entire book everything was generic

A bunch of random interactions.
