Publisher's summary

This exciting finale to Lauren Olive's New York Times best-selling Delirium trilogy is a riveting blend of nonstop action and forbidden romance in a dystopian United States.

Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has transformed. The nascent rebellion that was underway in Pandemonium has ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the fight.

After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven. Pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels.

As Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain of the Wilds, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancée of the young mayor. Requiem is told from both Lena and Hana's points of view. They live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge.

With lyrical writing, Lauren Oliver seamlessly interweaves the peril that Lena faces with the inner tumult she experiences after the reappearance of her first love, Alex, the boy she thought was dead. Sophisticated and wide-ranging, Requiem brings the Delirium trilogy to a thrilling conclusion.

Editorial reviews

Editors Select, March 2013 - One perk of being an Audible Editor is that I am often lucky enough to get my hands on an early copy of a much-coveted book. This was the case with Requiem – the final book in Lauren Oliver’s marvelous dystopian trilogy. And the conclusion was as brilliant as the first two books. Young Adult literature is experiencing a real renaissance right now and I’ve been reading and listening to a lot of it, but this series beats out all the others, in my opinion. Oliver’s world is creepily compelling and utterly unique, and the narration is top-notch. Even though I’ve already read Requiem I’ll be listening to it as soon as I can: Sarah Drew rivals Emma Galvin as today’s best YA voice. Emily, Audible Editor

Great story!

Who was your favorite character and why?

"Favorite"

I like the way both Hana and Lena had a chance to share their emotions (or lack of) and feelings. They have both changed so much in the last "year" (book time).

What does Sarah Drew bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

eh - just different.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I always want to listen or read a book in one sitting. ALWAYS.

Any additional comments?

I was a little disapointed in the ending. After having all day to think about why - I've come to terms with the end of Hana's story - I think it makes an excellent point. But, I don't think the love triangle was adequately closed. I think a short epiloge just focusing on the love interest would have been nice.

The first 2 books were great, but I got the feeling that she wasn't sure how to end the story.

Sarah Drew did a great job going back and forth between the 2 characters, even when I had to stop mid-chapter it was easy tell who I had left off listening too.

What?

What the hell? The writer loves to let the ending go to our imagination. Still I couldn’t put them down. I listen to the whole series in less that 5 days

Love it!!

I have a new favorite author. This series is amazing. I couldn’t put it down. So thought provoking and heart wrenching. Love, love, love it. My introduction to Lauren Oliver was the movie “before I fall”. My husband and I went to it and both really liked it. Every teenager should see it or read the book.

Great trilogy, great narrator, wishing for more!!!

Listened to all three in three days. Sad it's over! Love the way the books each have their own style but keep the same flow and intensity. The narrator's heartfelt, emotional performance was outstanding.

Great story!!

Before I bought this book, I saw several reviews about how bad the ending was. I, for one, feel that it was a great ending. Maybe we don't get to find out all the details, but we get to imagine all the possibilities instead, which I think is a better way to end the story. It's a great trilogy and I loved the characters. Great book and well worth the time to read (listen)!!!!

This can not be the end......

The book is filled with the angst of teen love, backstabbing friends, and all out battle. Truly a great read till you get to the endding. Now for the spoiler.....the book ends on a cliff hanger! Part of me is screaming NO NO NO! The other part of me says YES! It leaves me to come up with the ending I want for the people in the book that I have come to care for as if they were my very own friends.

I however think that it would be a great idea if she did another book ( there is plenty left unsaid in the book for it to happen) Maybe one from Hanna's POV on learning to love after the cure. You do get to see her start this process in Requiem....afterall it had been stated the cure does not work on them all. And I allready know who I want the guy to be for her to fall in love with and I think you will come to the same decision as me once you've read this amazing book!

An Awesome 3rd Book

Would you consider the audio edition of Requiem to be better than the print version?

Yes, because you can sit back and relax while the narrator paints the picture in your mind!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Requiem?

The little girl playing with the doll head and singing.

What does Sarah Drew bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She brings to the book a voice and emotions.

Any additional comments?

This 3rd book was as good as the first 2 and left me wanting more. It was a bit slower but I liked how the chapters switched between two characters and their point of views! As a whole, I recommend this dystopian trilogy!
