About this listen

Leaving his cozy cabin at Black Ridge in the middle of a winter storm isn't Lowe's idea of a good time, but he'll do whatever his alpha wants. With his twin for company, he battles the blizzard and his grouchy bear side, trying to keep his spirits up. When his brother brings up his bad habit of getting his heart broken, Lowe is sure things can't get any worse . . . and then a gunshot echoes around the valley and the smell of blood sends his instincts wild. And when he finds the owner of the delicate, tempting scent and sets eyes on the most beautiful female he's ever seen, fear and hope collide as he realizes she's human but everything inside him roars "fated mate."

Going on the run hadn't been in Cameo's life plan, until her nice-guy-turned-drug-lord ex kills her brother and sets his sights on her. Staying one step ahead of Karl and his men is vital to staying alive, but a wrong turn leads her into a remote valley and what looks like the end of the line . . . until a gorgeous six-six mountain of a man rescues her and growls a vow to protect her. As the heat that crackles between them blazes into an inferno, Cameo is torn between accepting Lowe's help and leaving to keep him safe. With the clock ticking and the men hunting her drawing ever closer, will Cameo follow her head or her heart?

Contains mature themes.

Cameo and Lowe

park ranger human on the run in the Canadian woods in the middle of a snow storm saved by her bear indeed. interesting story, scene is set really well. both characters are very straightforward which I like and they compliment each other well. I liked how she felt she recognized him as a bear even when she didn't know he was a shifter and didn't freak out and turn on him or be mean after she finds out.

the narrators are both very good, voices and their reading style. the narrators both being good really make an audio book for me.
this is the only series I've listened to from this author but they obviously connect to others... but it still made sense as a stand alone.

I wish this was in a box set like some of the other series I saw, especially because only 3 books were included in the plus catalog.

This love story is too short!

Loved the fierce emotions and wild love flying around this story.
Fascinating tale of male shape-shifter and female human interaction. But the story is too short. I hope she has sequels. Exciting read.

Cute bear shifter romance

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙❤️💚
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌏
Character development: 😊😄🥹
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Cameo - she was a forest ranger and was now on the run because her brother worked for the cartel and while being beaten, he told them that she had the money they were looking for. They demanded she pay them the $300,000 her brother owed them. She found out that her ex-boyfriend Karl had gotten her brother in with the cartel, and he had beaten her brother to death. He told her that if she didn’t get him the money for the cartel, what happened to her brother would also happen to her parents.

The Hero: Lowe - he was with his twin brother Knox, going north towards their lodge to help out their alpha Saint. They were told to get the lodge ready for Saint to bring a cougar female that he kidnapped to get back at the cougars for something they did. Since their parents died, Lowe was glad to be a part of the pride they now belonged to, so he was following orders. He was more easy-going than his brother Knox. Though something didn’t feel right in the valley and had his bear side restless.

The Story: When Lowe and Knox hear shots fired in the forest, they worry about who is out there in the middle of a winter storm, deep in the forest. They worried it might be Archangel, a group that hates shifters and thinks they are less than humans. They have been known to catch shifters and put them in fighting arenas for years on end. The guys get even more worried when they smell human blood. Lowe needed to find the source of the scent; he knew it was a human female.

The story was cute, and I did listen to the first book in this series as well, there were quite a few nods to that book since this one did take place in the same timeframe. Though there just wasn’t anything outstanding about this book or even above average. I like stories that have something a bit unique and this one was just OK, for what it was. I will probably listen to another in this series since they are in audible plus right now and are narrated by Troy Duran, though I don’t think I’ll spend money to buy the two books in between the ones in audible plus.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Troy Duran and Elizabeth Hart. I always love just about anything Troy Duran narrates. He is one of my favorite male narrators with a deep and sexy voice. Elizabeth Hart is not one of my favorites, she is good at showing emotion through her voice, I just am not a big fan of her voice. It sounds a bit whiny to me and I really despise her male voice. It is awful.
