Surviving is worse than death....

As the first days of the end of humanity tumble across the city of Las Vegas in the form of an overwhelming viral infection, turning almost everyone into vampire-like creatures, April Tate will find out what it really means to survive. What does it take to make it out alive in a place where everything is but a withered echo of its former self and death does not come willingly?

The back story

I am such a huge fan of this series so I was thrilled to get this to see how it all started. It was interesting to see April and Jeremy in their lives before the outbreak. Well done

I read this book before any others of the series.

This short prequel had me left with a lot of questions. It's a good story when you get into it. How did this virus begin? What happened to her dad? I'm hoping to get more back story in the first book. I am drawn into the story and look forward to reading more.

Glad I've read the rest of the series...

Honestly, the first 2 or three chapters had me thinking "My God she's a brat!" However, since this is a short story AND a prequel, I kept listening... And I realized that April's reactions and attitude are actually very believable for how suddenly the outbreak occurs and how fast it moves.

I really enjoyed the narrator's voice and performance! She really put feeling into it, and her male voices were some of the best I've heard!

Nice short story with decent action, and it does actually add a bit of resonance (see what I did there?!) to the main character. I will now be listening to the original series, so that I can enjoy the story in a whole new way.

A great read!

Surviving is worse than death…

An interesting read that gives you a peak into how the apocalypse started before you begin Reign of Blood.

Can't wait to read Reign of Blood.

Full of feral vampires, hybrids, lonelinesses, surviving, hope and uncertainty.

Perfect for readers of post-apocalyptic novels and paranormal romances.

A good listen!

Resonant

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! Once it started you had to see how it played out!

Any additional comments?

This was a fun start to the series. Its hard to believe that a young girl has to be such an adult. I don't know many that would think of dental care ect. during a time like this. And yet she is so brave. I cant wait to get started on the next book in this series!

Unique

I loved this book. The author did a wonderful job at world building and creating well developed and relatable characters.Alexia Purdy developed a unique story with frightening vampires and a strong young female fighting to survive and protect her loved ones. The narrator did an amazing job portraying the story and has a very pleasant voice.I stayed up late so I could finish this audiobook.I have already downloaded the next book in the series on my audible app to listen to on my lunch break.

In The Beginning Of The End

Would you listen to Resonant again? Why?

Yes! It was a very fun listening experience and I LOVE this series! I will most likely both read this and listen to this again :)

Who was your favorite character and why?

April is my favorite because she is so strong and inviolate! She will let nothing get in the way of her survival. And she does the best she can to take care of her family. She is always looking for new and better ways to survive as well as new and better ways to kill the feral vampires that threaten their continued existence! She is amazing and awe inspiring :)

What does Anne Marie Susan Silvey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She truly brings out April's snark, Jeremy's innocent curiosity, and their mother's inherent inner weakness! It is truly an immersive experience :)

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Resonant : Rise Of The Zompires

Any additional comments?

This series must be listened to (or read) in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to listen to Reign Of Blood!

April is a survivor. First she survived her father's death. Then she survived her mom starting up with Randy. She even survived Randy trying to replace her dead father... So far. This virus, on the other hand, seems like difficult thing to survive. If the virus gets you it turns you into a feral vampire like creature with no thought other than to feed on anyone near you not also a feral. If it doesn't get you... The ferals will unless you kill them first. How will they survive? Will she be able to keep her baby brother Jeremy and her mother safe as well? How do you hide from a disease and those inflicted? Will life ever be normal again?

*** This series is suitable for mature young adult through adult readers who like their new adult apocalyptic stories with a strong heroine and loads of monster killing fun :)
