Publisher's summary

Rip Van Winkle lived in a quiet colonial town, and had a habit of attending to everyone else's chores. Henpecked and poor, he goes squirrel hunting in the woods one day, only to exit twenty years later.

A wonderful short story that makes a perfect daytime companion

I listened to Rip Van Winkle while doing the dishes one evening. It’s the perfect length and a fascinating story that takes a deeper look at the worlds that existed in the Appalachian hill country right before and right after the American Revolution.

Good short story

I really enjoy Washington Irving's writing. It's rich in detail and recalls a time that seems so much simpler.

B.J. Harrison is an excellent narrator for these kinds of stories. And he seems to enjoy his work, which makes listening to it that much nicer.

Well Read

Nice to hear the original story. I watched the Wishbone episode on PBS years prior but had never read it's origin. I wish they could somehow bring Wishbone back.

Delightful

I have been meaning to revisit this wonderful story from my childhood ever since I visited Sleepy Hollow, and then I discovered to my surprise that I had Dutch ancestors in the Hudson River Valley. Having the tale read to me in such a perfect voice really was enjoyable.
