Coyote shifter Mercy Thompson and Alpha werewolf Adam finally reach the altar. But when they make the Columbia River their honeymoon destination, their newlywed bliss turns into a fight for survival....

An evil is stirring in the depths of the Columbia River—and innocent people are dying. As other walkers make their presence known to Mercy, she must reconnect with her heritage to exorcise the world of the legend known as the river devil.

Love this series!

River Marked is the ongoing story of Mercy Thompson and her adventures. You should definitely read this entire series. I also recommend the Alpha and Omega series that is about different but related characters in the same world. Reading order can be found on the author’s website.
My highlights from this book (minor spoilers):
-I laugh each and every time I read/listen to the shenanigans surrounding Mercy and Adam’s wedding. Mercy’s mom and Jesse are quite the pair.
-I like that we (finally!) get more information about Mercy’s father and where her supernatural powers come from. Plus more supernatural beings!
The narration and sound effects are amazing! If you have not experienced a book in Graphic Audio, I highly recommend!
Fantastic!

I remain annoyed by the fakeness of adults trying to voice children.
My thoughts on River Marked:
They fixed the smarmy way the voice actor played Stefan, thank Coyote! I still wish he had a tiny bit of an Italian accent, but the smarm is gone! Ben's accent also seems toned down.
I finally realized exactly why River Marked remains my favorite of the Mercy side of the Mercy/A&O universe. It's because it's more like A&O - primarily focused on the main two characters, Mercy and Adam. I much prefer the way she writes A&O where the two romantic leads are BOTH the main characters, and they're always working together. Removing the larger cast means there was more development of the Mercy-Adam relationship. Before it seemed a little forced, because they're always surrounded by the pack and by Mercy's entourage.
I also realized Patty continued to write the pair of them differently after River Marked. Adam is much more a main part of the story, rather than a character whom she happens to have a relationship with.
Improved voices for characters that previously had issues, and IMO the best book of the series.

I don't know what happened at Graphic Audio with this series. They did such a nice job with all the other adaptions I've heard, but this one is just bad. It's like they made no effort to understand the charcters or the mood of the books. They absolutely ignore moments when the text specifies a tone of voice. I guess that helps the listener know what the tone was supposed to be, in contradiction to how the actor read the line. Maybe I'll listen to a sample in couple books and see if they manage to fix the problems in this series.
Better but still disappointing
