About this listen

Far from home...

Exarch Devlin Stone, hero of the Word of Blake Jihad and architect of the Republic of the Sphere, has returned only to find his beloved nation under siege and in danger of breaking apart. As threats bear down on the Republic from all sides, Stone and his inner circle must move fast to bolster Terra’s defenses from all who seek to conquer the birthplace of humanity.

However, not all of his allies have heeded Stone’s call to arms. Former Exarch Damien Redburn, who left Terra to defend the Republic’s borders from the rapacious Clan Wolf, was cut off when the walls of Fortress Republic rose. Without support or reinforcements, Redburn, the Fidelis, and Countess Tara Campbell’s Highlanders have held the line against the Wolves for years, but the never-ending campaign has pushed all of them to their breaking points.

Is Stone’s return genuine or a carefully crafted hoax? Can Redburn be brought back into the fold, or has he gone rogue for good? In the end, Stone, Redburn, and their allies must each decide their path before tensions can erupt in a clash that could shake the very foundation of the Republic....

Essential Canon Story

Critical story that answers the question offering Stone, the Blackout, and the Fidelis. Trent is always a premium narrator

Great narration, decent story.

Tren Sparks does a great job narrating. As usuall, Pardoe needs to learn how to use a narrative voice instead of having characters explain basic in universe concepts to each other for the reader's benefit.

Not really a novel

Looking for an exciting Battletech novel full of action and characters of derring do? This isn't it. This is a novella that is much more of a docu-drama. It fills in the gaps in the Battletech Lore and continues updating the overall Battletech story. As for a novel with character development and a plot, this is not present.

Great for those looking to learn the Battletech story, Bad for those looking for a good Battletech Story.

I love battletech

Another solid movement in the wonderful space opera we know as battletech. Blaine Lee Pardoe adds another fantastic and well orchestrated piece to the puzzle. I really hope they keep putting these books out and keep Tren Sparks narrating! He is great.

Pardoe's battletech novels are the best

This is the story of Devlin Stones return to the inner sphere prior to the wolf / falcon invasion of terra.

Amazing

Tren Sparks is the best audio book presenter I’ve ever had the pleasure of witnessing.

Irrational Writing

The reasoning for leadership decisions in this is infuriatingly irrational. I only just finished this for the update on where the setting was at, as a big time Battletech fan.

Boring repetitive

The same dialog and unnecessary inner thoughts repeated over and over. Even the action is repetitive with the same ploy tried three times. Story is about a bunch of old men who’s outsized self importance could only be true in fiction.
