About this listen

When renowned archeologist Gav Gendin discovers the wreck of an Ancient starship, with a stasis pod and a still living member of the extinct aliens inside, it should be the greatest triumph of his career. Instead, it ends in disaster and leads to his son, Siv, being placed in cryogenic sleep.

A century later, Siv Gendin wakes to a world in decline, a world where you do what you must to survive. With the help of a snarky, sentient AI companion named Silky, Siv becomes a top procurement specialist.

Enslaved to the Shadowslip Guild, Siv has little hope of ever being his own man. Until they offer him freedom in exchange for completing a practically suicidal mission. His target: a young girl with uncanny abilities. Rival criminal guilds, foreign governments, and religious extremists will risk all-out war to get their hands on her - for good reason.

With her mysterious link to the Ancients, this girl could reshape human civilization, perhaps even bring back the golden age Siv knew as a child. But only if he is willing to defy the Shadowslip and risk everything to keep her safe.

The Benevolency Universe

For over 3,000 years a superintelligence called the Benevolence guided humanity through an age of unprecedented peace, prosperity, and technological advancement. Now, a century after its collapse, our enemies multiply as we struggle to maintain our starfaring civilization and recover technology we once took for granted. But the Benevolence kept many secrets to itself, secrets that could shape the future of humanity.

This is a great find and a great series. If it wasn't for the Plus catalogue, I would have never found it or given the series a try. I super suggest you start with Book 0. Makes the series way better!

It's one of those books that feels all action and boom - then the characters grow in ways that turns the reader into friends. I love series like this one! Reminds me of (JN Chaney) Renegade Star and (Lindsay Buroker) Star Kingdom. The dialogue is sharp and witty and sometimes deep and meaningful. I like how this author is willing to kill off great characters, allowing even greater characters to grow. Brave, smart and confident.

I'm writing this because I comb through reviews looking for great series. There are so many crappy ones out there, it's almost disheartening trying to find a one worth the time. I'm sure when this series gets more exposure, it'll take off!

This is a great series. Jump in! You'll love it.

Absolutely fantastic!!! Smart & witty!!!

This series has popped up on audibles many, many times and I had saved it to my wish list a very long time ago. Being afraid it wouldn't live up to the Iain M. Banks/Peter Kenny combo, I guess I was reluctant. I finally pulled the trigger and just want to say what a talented and exciting writer David Alastair Hayden is, and that Peter Kenny was a perfect voice to this very unique and exciting Scifi/Space Opera. Highly Recommend...on to book two for me.

I put this one off for too long! It was Awesome!!

I come from a generation of Star Wars and Star Trek. And when I read books I inevitably compared to those classics. This series sits very comfortably in the middle of all those well thought out well performed classics. In many ways surpasses it was brilliant application of technologies and surprising twists and turns without being ridiculous or pedestrian. Five stars all the way watch out it’s addictive

Superbly written and performed

This story has a lot of potential. The author has plenty of imagination and the line of the story can be followed with ease. Characters are presented in a way that endears the reader to like them more and more as their story develops. The actor voicing them is well spoken, understandable, even with his accent and carries the character’s emotions well.
Good read/listen.
