About this listen

From the embers of a galaxy in flames, destiny calls upon an unknown guardian.

Captain Axel Finn has spent his life running salvage missions with an alien crew and their war bot. This motley group has found refuge on his ship from their own tumultuous pasts. But little do any of them know, beneath his gentle demeanor, their steadfast captain is far from the peace following, adventure seeking giant of a man they all love. His pacifist ethos meant to safeguard them has edged them to the brink of financial ruin and drawn dangerous enemies.

Forced into a risky salvage operation, the crew uncovers an alien relic not of this galaxy.

Expecting treasure to pay their debts, they instead find an artifact of the Wrath, an extraterrestrial species that once decimated entire worlds. To decipher the true nature of their discovery, Axel seeks Rangnar Soki, a deadly bounty hunter famous for his pursuit of the Stewards—legendary warriors who stood against the Wrath in bygone days. But as the mystery of this artifact deepens, and hunters close in, an old enemy threatens to set the galaxy ablaze.

Axel must choose: accept his legacy and unleash the monster within or watch everything he loves burn.

Incredible Story

This book is all-around awesome! You get two narrators and three storylines from three different main characters. How much fun is that?! It’s definitely a unique format that I thoroughly enjoyed. Both narrators are phenomenal. NSS brings us to new planets and introduces various species of alien. Each main character has their own battles to face, leaving you on the edge of your seat as the action heats up. I can’t recommend this book enough and am looking forward to the next installment!

NSS at his best!

This story is told really well! The character development is perfectly balanced to give you an idea of who they are and what has made them that way, without distracting from the story! This is my new favorite book! I'm on my second listen through already!

Oh, I'm loving these characters!

I love these characters and Nick gives their backstory so flawlessly in the story. The writing is top notch as always. If you're like me, and are not really a fan of dual narrators, give this book a try anyways. I actually enjoyed it, and this is the first time I've ever said that.

Great surprise

I love Sansbuy-Smith apocalypse books. This book is on a whole new world so I was skeptical but NSS made me care about Axel, Luna, and all the misfit crew of the Trash Squ

The Male Narrator Is Awful…

The male narrator is awful, and if it weren’t for the decent story, I probably wouldn’t have finished this book—especially his Luna and Spartacus narrations. I cringed every time they talked.

The female narrator was pretty good, and I had no issues with her.

Hm not for me but interesting

It didn’t get my full attention . 50% listening , 50% my head was wondering outside of the story of that book. It is well narrated and the story is somehow interesting , however many times it drags and drags with no real goals.

Awesome images painted in my mind

Great background details of the story mixed in with the present action going on and plenty of action. Characters are awesome to imagine. It definitely paints vivid pictures of every scene going on while listening.
