About this listen

Tina Gardenia lives in a tiny house and works in a tiny flower shop. She doesn't have room for a big, strong man like Luca Lowell.

Luca has taken over the garage down the street, and now he's trying to expand Tina's tiny world. He can't exactly buy flowers for a florist, so he has to get creative with his romantic gestures. Very creative.

Luca doesn't know that Tina is holding on to something from the past. It might be a problem for the couple. She won't let him into her tiny life if she has no space.

There are plenty of LOLs and bittersweet moments to savour on Tina and Luca's bumpy journey toward love.

Note: This is an expanded and updated full-length novel based on a story originally published in 2014 as Blue Roses under the pen name Mimi Strong.

Chapter 1:

"Tina Gardenia was on the edge of crying. A bundle of blue roses sat before her on the prep counter. They were so tacky, so unnatural. Natural roses came in so many wonderful colors, but people preferred the white ones tinted with blue dye. People didn’t always have the best taste. Florists were supposed to help, but the customer was always right. Even if they wanted dyed blue roses.

She picked up one rose, cupping the blossom in her palm as she stripped the thorns off with a knife.

Her eyes felt hot and itchy. They hadn’t recovered from the previous night’s sad movie, which should have come with an Ugly Cry warning. It served her right for picking one with a dog on the poster. She should have known the dog would die. Now her tear ducts were probably permanently damaged. She blinked hard, but it didn’t help.

The door chime let out a chirp. Someone walked into Gardenia Flowers. By the sound of his steps, it was a man, and not a small one.

Tina’s gaze went first to the boots. They were motorcycle boots. And they were big.

Next, her gaze climbed up his jeans. And what a climb it was, over long legs clad in denim, and noticeably muscled thighs. Her mouth went dry, and she nearly looked away out of modesty but didn’t. She was having a good day, and on good days she didn’t feel like a shrinking violet at all.

The man wore a black shirt with a bike logo, stretched tight across his chest muscles. He was so big, and the flower shop was so tiny, that he had to turn his body sideways to squeeze past the ferns. His presence in the cramped shop reminded Tina of that old expression: Bull in a china shop.

Tina watched him with detached amusement, the way she watched comedy movies. The man was in his early thirties, which would have made him a potential dating prospect, if it weren’t for those big boots and that tall, manly frame. The guy fighting his way through the fern jungle wasn’t her type at all. She usually went for skinny video game or movie geeks. Guys who were more boys than men. The sort of guys who didn’t have their lives figured out, either, and therefore didn’t bug her to “get out of her comfort zone.” Tina liked her comfort zone. It was called that for a reason.

The man had breached the fern jungle, and was now looking over the other tropical houseplants as he made his way toward the counter.

Tina’s heart started to pound. This was no comedy movie. This was real life, and it was happening in real time.

The closer he got, the more easily she could see the definition in his arms, his shoulders, even his neck. Whenever she saw a bunch of muscles, she got stupid and giggly on the inside."

Clean Romantic Comedy with a lot of Character

Disclaimer: This audiobook was given to me in exchange for an honest review

Angela Pepper has a knack for creating likeable, quirky characters and infusing them with life and humor. Although there is no magic in this series like Ghost Hackers or Wisteria Witch Mysteries, there is no lack of magic in the tale she tells.

The characters have nuance and history - so there are some mysteries that unravel about why everyone behaves the way they do. I felt like there was maturity in the way the characters were handled, while still keeping things light and fluffy through the banter and humor. It was a perfect Valentine's Day treat to listen to.

This is short, fun and I loved spending time with the characters and look forward to exploring more characters and romances (like the sister or roommate) in any future sequels.

Tiffany Williams is always a delight to listen to. She brings the story to life in a way that feels like you're listening to a radio performance more than reading a text. She does an excellent job jumping between character voices.

ROMANCE TO SMILE

l always enjoy Angie's humour and witty lines in her books, they never fail to have me smiling or laughing at the characters, their antics and descriptions of the inanimate objects in the story.
The narrator is a favourite of mine and certainly knows how to breath life into words.

Quirky & Highly Entertaining Rom-Com

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story. Angie Pepper does such a great job bringing fun, interesting and very likeable characters into her books. This book may not have the fantasy magic side of some of her other series but there's a magic that happens between these characters that is phenomenal. Enter flower shop girl stage right with a heartbreaking past, lives in a tiny house on the property of her nutty sister that also works in the flower shop. Add in a close friend with some serious almost "spectrum disorder" like issues especially around anything intimate.... just words like "panties" make her run for the hills. Now throw in a big handsome biker guy in the shop across the street and watch the craziness unfold. It truly is a fun rollercoaster ride that will satisfy any rom-com craving!

Parents- PG13 about a 16+ read- Fairly clean language, no violence, there is sexual content in the form of lots of insinuations, talk about sex and make out moments but the bedroom door does stay closed.

The narrator does a fantastic job and is just easy and really fun to listen to.

Romancing the Flower Girl

This book had me laughing so many times with all the goofiness going on! There were a few serious spots that brought out other emotions but laughter is definitely the biggest one. I loved this book and can’t wait to see if there will be more to this series.

nice story

This was a cute story that moved smoothly over a few bumps and wrong turns along the road of a new relationship which in the end lead to an hea. The narration was excellent.

Lighthearted Romance

Maybe it’s because it is so close to Valentines when I started this but it was exactly the lighthearted romance with the happily ever after that I needed. I would recommend.

Great Read

Romancing the Flower Shop Girl (Baker Street Romance #1) was a good read by Angie Pepper. Tina Gardenia works in a tiny floor shop and doesn't have room for a man in her life. Especially a big strong man like Luca Lowell. He took over the garage down the street. He knows he can't buy flowers for the flower shop girl, so his romantic gestures must get creative. Unfortunately Tina is holding on to something from her past that may be a problem for them. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more by Angie Pepper.
