About this listen

He's a hot high school chemistry teacher living in a small town. She's a globetrotting journalist running from her past. They used to be best friends. Then one kiss changes everything.

Kate Fletcher is my kryptonite.

She's also my best friend. Former best friend? I'm not sure what you call it when we grew up attached at the hip and then she left Silver Creek (and me) to travel the world.

The important thing is: Kate is back. (Temporarily.) And I'm still in love with her. (Permanently.)

But something is different now. The attraction doesn't seem one-sided. I don't think I'm imagining the heat in Kate's eyes or the chemistry crackling between us.

But will that be enough to keep Kate here, when, for as long as I can remember, all she's wanted to do is leave?

I'm determined to give her a reason to stay. Family. Connection. Roots. And me. I'll have to start with sparks and fire, but if I take this step, there's no turning back to simple friendship. And if she doesn't feel the same way, I might lose her again—this time for good.

Oh, the feels!

MY TAKE
This is such a great series. I ended up reading these first two books out of order. I read Perry's book first (see his love story in How to Kiss Your Grumpy Boss--perfect title, by the way), so it was fun to get to see him before that time and get into his head. But now I want to go back and read that one so the references to Kate and Brody will have even more meaning.

Because these are fun and interesting characters to read about. Kate and Brody have been best friends since middle school. Only he's been in love with her just about from the beginning, and she's only ever seen as a best friends. And she's been out of touch for years now. Like, no contact. Not a very nice way to treat someone who's your best friend.

But there's so much family garbage Kate's dealing with that she hasn't been able to separate those hurt and angry feels from her feelings about Silver Creek--and Brody. So when she finally comes back home, she finds the guy she always connected with again. But so much more. Inspired by her adventures, he's done some adventuring of his own. And wow. He's hot!

She's committed to staying to go through her late grandmother's possessions, still clueless about Brody's feelings for her. And he finds he's still just as crazy about her as before. Which worries his family. What happens when she leaves again. Because that's something Kate always does. She leaves. And leaves a broken Brody in her wake.

Such a great story! Loved it so much! And the ending has all the feels!

The above was my original review for the ebook. I just finished listening to the audiobook. Oh, my. The narrators, Lidia Dornet and Philip Alces, make it even better. Seriously, the feels! *sigh* So swoony!

Cute story, narration needs improvement

Definitely a cute story but I just couldn’t get into the male narrator’s voice, it didn’t match who I viewed the character as. Would have been much better with a voice like Zachary Webber, Sebastian York, Shane East, etc.

Wanted to like it

This story is boring. The characters are shallow. The romance barely exists. The female lead is painfully unaware of herself.
