About this listen

A fun, flirty teen debut from Wattpad phenom Alex Light about a fake relationship and real love.

It’s been years since 17-year-old Becca Hart believed in true love. But when her former best friend teases her for not having had a boyfriend, Becca impulsively pretends she’s been secretly seeing someone.

Brett Wells has it all. As captain of the football team and one of the most popular guys in his school, he should have no problem finding someone to date, but he’s always been more focused on his future than who to bring to prom. When he overhears Becca’s lie, Brett decides to step in and be the mystery guy. It’s the perfect solution: he gets people off his back for not having a meaningful relationship, and she can keep up the ruse that she’s got a boyfriend.

Acting like the perfect couple isn’t easy, though, especially when you barely know the other person. But with Becca still picking up the pieces from when her world was blown apart years ago and Brett just barely holding his together now, they begin to realize they have more in common than they ever could have imagined.

When the line between what is pretend and what is real begins to blur, they're forced to answer the question: Is this fake romance the realest thing in either of their lives?

Ive started to read lots of romance books over quarantine and liked most of them but for some reason while reading them they didn’t feel real but since the second chapter of this book started i actually feel like i could be one of these characters the way they act is so real that it made everything i read a hundred times more interesting this books is great and if your a highschool student like me it shows you that even when you feel alone you cant lose hope because you never know what can happen.

One of the most realist romance books I’ve read.

An easy lazy read for a relaxing weekend. Nothing too heavy or thought provoking, just incredibly fluffy and cute. Narrators did a fantastic job emoting.

decent story, excellent delivery

A light and fun contemporary YA romance. A great story to lose yourself in. You fall in love with the characters and you want to cheer them on.

Sweet as sugar, and lovely to boot.

Loved it! This is such a great story for young adults trying to figure out about their feelings. Alex Light has demonstrated that young adults can resolve their emotions.

Falling in love

The female narrator is amazing. I almost cried with her when she did. Other than that, book is a fast and easy read.

Great Narrator

I have no idea why I am so obsessed with this book (I’m well into my 30’s) but I LOVED it.

It must provide some sort of nostalgia that I cannot put my finger on - but the flow of the story is fantastic, it’s not too slow to build and it’s just a feel good story.

More obsessed than I should be

I really enjoyed the narrators, they made the book more interesting and engaging. The story line wasn’t too interesting and was pretty predictable. I probably would have DNFed this if I had tried to read it and not listened to it.

Good Narration

I liked it. Wished the author had written more about Becca and her father. But otherwise enjoyed it. Liked female narrator. Didn't like the male narrator. He sounded like a robot.

Really Good

I enjoyed the book, it was a nice story, however I almost couldn’t finish the book because the voice used in Brett’s chapters to represent female characters was very obnoxious and difficult to sit through.

Good Book, Bad Voice
