About this listen

Rich may have defeated Mallory, his nemesis, but his quests are only beginning. When a trip into the labyrinth known as the Corridor of Keys almost ends in disaster, Rich realizes he needs more training to be up to the task of rescuing his father.

By fulfilling a new set of quests over summer break, Rich can gain the rank of rook, which brings with it incredible new powers. Mallory, however, isn't going to stay down for long. As Rich becomes more powerful, so does she, meaning he might never get a second chance at a family reunion.

A summer of battles

Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Beautifully performed by Scott Connolly as far Rich and this friends summer has come but that doesn't mean it will be a quiet time. Rich gets into the Corridor of Keys- a massive place of endless rooms of complex puzzles; and Rich can to only so far until he's forced out. As Rich learns what it means to become a Rook, his skills are tested at the community center he's taken a job at; his enemy Mallory has come back and forces Rich into one epic and harrowing chess battle involving friends, fellow students and teacher being turned "living" chess pieces... testing all of the world that Rich as still understanding. Another amazing tale in this lovely series.

Highly recommended.

A Labyrinth Of Escape Rooms

Parents- PG- middle school and up - continues to be very clean and love the teamwork and friendship theme of this series
Language- None
Violence- PG- normal to genre nothing too graphic
Sexual Content- none

Book 3 didn't disappoint. I am enjoying this series, if you are new to them you need to know that they do need to be read in order. The fantasy fun continues in a real-world setting with a mix of the Knights of the Round Table and Chess. My review will mimic my other reviews because I don't give anything away. Rich is a nerdy 8th grader who gets pulled into this new realm and meets some of his ancestors who start him on a quest of his own and send him a guide that's his age but from a much older time. Rich's story is advancing along with his chess rank and there are lots of secrets, mystery, and suspense. In this book, Rich finds his way into the Corridor of Keys which is like a huge labyrinth made up of puzzle or escape rooms. He has to battle his nemesis again in this book and the stakes are much higher. The world-building continues to be great and the characters are relatable and keep you engaged. This is a series that ends kind of abruptly and pushes you into getting the next in the series. This is a great clean fantasy and will also appeal to chess lovers.

Narrator- He did great with the differentiations and was easy to listen to.
