About this listen

Read by Josie Lawrence, Room on the Broom is a very funny story of quick wits and friendship from the unparalleled picture book partnership of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, creators of The Gruffalo. This audiobok edition also includes a song and a read-along track.

How the cat purred and how the witch grinned,
As they sat on their broomstick and flew through the wind.

The witch and her cat fly happily over forests, rivers and mountains on their broomstick until a stormy wind blows away the witch's hat, bow and wand. Luckily, they are retrieved by a dog, a bird and a frog, who are all keen for a ride on the broom. It's a case of the more, the merrier, but the broomstick isn't used to such a heavy load and it's not long before...snap! It breaks in two! And with a greedy dragon looking for a snack, the witch's animal pals better think fast.

Perfect for listening to at home, in the car, at bedtime - or any time at all!

my daughter loves the movie and the book and she is always telling the story as if she was a story teller So I decided to get her this audio Book and she loved it. It is also super cute the way it is told and the music and everything.

Have been telling this story to my kids for many years. The audio version is beautifully read. It feels like I am a kid, in my grandfather’s kitchen, both of us listening to the story played by actors on the radio. Those radio plays took me to a land of imagination and wondrous adventures along the characters of the stories. I am glad that my kids have this opportunity to listen and let their imagination wonder in magic lands.

Delightful

My kids love this story. We have read the book and watched the animated version so I thought that we'd give the audible a try, we weren't disappointed! The narration is well done and the sound effects add nicely to the story. At about 11 minutes long its a nice length for short car trips and the kids ask for it often.

Witchy Fun

My favorite part of this story is the vocabulary and rhyming. I also enjoy how it is festive (Halloween themed) but not scary.
The down side to this is that it tries to portray Tramar (witches) as just silly, and friendly, when we know that they’re actually quite evil, make poisons, and illusions (like pretending they’re good with inaccurate images and language), and target children in particular. Would love a proper remake, like the book The Witches by British author Roald Dahl.

Otherwise, this audio book is great because it’s well understood by the reader, and the music and sounds during the reading are awesome for toddlers. If only the app would also have the images of the book throughout it, like for the book Owl Moon.

Great vocabulary, inaccurate depiction

I have read this book, often to my grandchildren. I decided to get this audio version, to see the difference in their responses. They loved it, especially whey the witch would Cackle. They giggled and laughed along with the book.
