About this listen

Fans of the greatest reindeer of all will have a double helping of Christmas fun with this collection, which includes the title story plus Rudolph Shines Again. Near and dear to so many hearts, this is the story, the original story, of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, written by Robert L. May in 1939. Rudolph, loveable and generous, humble and good, embodies the spirit of Christmas and reminds us of the magical possibilities that exist within us all.

In the companion story, Rudolph Shines Again, Rudolph loses his light and is certain he is of no use to Santa now; he decides to go far away, where no one knows how bright his nose used to be. But on his journey, something magical happens. As enchanting as the original story, Robert L. May's uplifting sequel to his classic tale Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a joyous celebration of the spirit of Christmas.

We all know the song and the movie, but I have to confess I don't think I've ever read the actual original book version of this classic story. And being in the same meter as The Night Before Christmas, it has even more connection for the holidays.

Rudolph Shines Again is interesting but not as compelling as the original story.

The audio performance is excellent and very accessible to children and adults. And you can sing along at the end to a selection of holiday songs.

Make this a holiday tradition.

I absolutely loved this book! The story was wonderful and brought me back to my childhood. The narrator was very nice and pleasant to listen to. The songs at the end were a great surprise. In these trying times it really got me into the Christmas spirit!

I’d never read the story behind Rudolph. The first story explains how Santa came to realize Rudolph’s nose could be of value to him that foggy Christmas Eve. :) This was a good easy listen and a good diversion from day to day life. They tagged on some light Christmas music at the end which I appreciate. Good Christmas cheer even in September.

Light and easy and makes you smile

Good, simple story overshadowed by teleplay. Great rediscovery of misplaced gift, restored to Christmas lore.

The original I never knew

As an older person, these Wonderful Stories and Great Songs really made our Holidays Special. Bunny and I listen to them often.

They're is only one thing, in one spot, we'd complain about and that was between the two stories. There wasn't any kinda break between them. The narrator is reading book one and then reads title of book two and keeps on going. My daughter looked at me with a confused look on her face. She did however love both stories and the Christmas songs added after the end.

My youngest mostly enjoyed.

The beloved story of Rudolph first published in 1939 as well as a sequel can be found in this collection that is perfect for the Christmas season or any time of year. I have never heard the sequel myself until I discovered this audiobook. I even liked the holiday songs that were included.

Two stories about your favorite reindeer. A perfect listen for the holiday season.
