About this listen

With the excitement of the spring dog show season sweeping Connecticut, prize-winning Poodle owner Melanie Travis is determined to help her son finally lead his Standard Poodle toward a championship title. But the competition is fierce.

Aunt Peg even skips the judging panel to exhibit a pup of her own, standing out from the pack with a handmade leash from elite artist Jasmine Crane. Jasmine's handiwork is to die for - but Aunt Peg didn't expect to find her strangled to death by one of her dazzling custom creations....

When Aunt Peg's longtime dog sitter, a renter on Jasmine's property, vanishes that same day, Melanie suspects a dangerous connection. Her hunch only grows as she discovers sketchy secrets about the late artist. Juggling a teaching job, the show ring, and a daunting suspect list, Melanie finds herself entangled in a mindboggling murder mystery - and hot on the trail of a desperate killer.

The plot was clever and engaging! The main characters were likable. I love all the dog talk. However I don’t this narrator is the right person for the job. Her voice frequently gets robotic and when she gruffly lowers her voice to do certain characters it is painful to listen to. And not only did she mispronounce well known town names (Darien, CT for one) but she mispronounced common words like “marrow bone” (how?) and the yiddish/american noun “noodge” or “nudge” (meaning a pest.) Good story, not great narration.

Ruff Justice is an entertaining cozy mystery with engaging characters and an interesting plot. I look forward to the next book in this series.

having a hard time getting used to the new narrator where aunt Peg is concerned. the previous narrator did her voice in a higher pitch which made her sound more snooty/ high class which she is lol. However, I love the series and will continue to listen.

The writing and story are superb. The narrator does the main character’s voice well but is wooden in the characters that aren’t as prevalent. Why wasn’t this addressed? Laurien Berenson’s stories deserve better. Even still, I want every one of these books in audio!

I adore this series! Tantos needs to publish the last of them!

Great characters. Believable dialogue. Good plot. Never dull. One of the best series in the cozy mystery genre.

Ruff Justice is a must read.

Sorry I wasted a credit on this audible book. Story was okay but the narrator was truly terrible. She couldn’t do an Italian accent and too many of the characters sounded alike. I won’t get another book narrated by her. I will stick to print books.
