About this listen

He was supposed to be my escape for the weekend. I wasn’t supposed to fall for him.

My life feels as if it’s spiraling out of control the moment, Mom and Dad inform me that come Monday, I’m heading to Italy to “get to know” the son of an important business investor.

Apparently, it’s my responsibility as a daughter of a hotel tycoon or something.

I want to be a good daughter, but I’m tired of being looked over. I’m tired of having my life planned out for me.

So when I run into Jet Miller, the bad boy with a motorcycle, I pay him to take me away for the weekend. He’s convinced that I won’t fit into his life, but I don’t care. I need this break.

Two days of freedom quickly change into something more, and I find myself falling for Jet.

Only, he doesn’t know that once our 48 hour escape is over, I’m gone.

And I don’t know how to tell him.

Some rules are meant to be broken.

Jet is described as a bad boy but his behavior is anything but. Well, accept the initial kiss, the friends he hangs out with, and spending the night wrapped in Brielle’s arms the first night. He seems to be a misunderstood young man that has a difficult life with a drunkard as a father.
Jet and Brielle end up together for a weekend after Brielle gets upset with her parents. They are trying to match her up and send her to Italy for the summer to help seal a business deal. Jet and Brielle have instant chemistry even though they know they can’t be together. They make a cute couple regardless. My only complaint is that Brielle thinks that she has to go to Italy to help Jet’s family have a better life. No matter what kind of business deal there are going to be people that gain and people that suffer. But Brielle is young so I guess that is likely how a teenager would react.

Teen whirlwind romance

Rule #5: You Can’t trust the Bad Boy is a cute stand alone YA romance. It’s fast paced storyline and adorable characters are interesting and kept me engaged. The narrator gives a nice performance.

Great story. Wondering how it will end in a HEA. Gives that hope of young love to last. A young man who loves with everything he has. Gives you a glimpse into what it’s like to grow up on the wrong side of the tracks and how you can’t judge a person by their circumstances. You will fall in love with the characters and cheer for their HEA.

Forever kind of love

Story: 2.5 stars

I think teenage girls will love this story and since they are the intended audience, this is a success. It might be time for me to stop reading YA because, although our main characters sounded truly and authentically like teenagers, I couldn't take the angst. And the insta-love. My apologies to the author because it was clean and romantic when we weren't bogged down in inner-dialogues. I really liked the premise, but that it all happened in a day pushed the boundaries of believable for me. The main girl and boy are really likable teenagers, quite responsible, etc. and I really enjoyed watching their characters unfold and break away from the stereotypes they were perceived as. I was definitely cheering them on. I guess the love and the resolution just happened too fast and with such quick acceptance by parents (who suddenly changed character?) that I couldn't enter into the fantasy of it all.

Narration: 4 stars

Ms. Krane is an excellent narrator. Her pacing, inflections and expression are all very well done. Her male voices are deep enough to be believable without sounding strained. I'd happily listen to her again.

This is a cute, clean teenage romance that I’d recommend to my teenage daughter if I had one. I liked the banter in this one. It was a well-developed story, especially considering the entire story takes place during one weekend. I think the narrator was a great fit for this story.

Cute addition to the Rules of Love Series

I loved this book! This book is about a girl that is rich and a boy that isn’t she ends up falling for him.

Is how they fell in love in a day.
