Publisher's summary

He thought he knew what he wanted. Turns out, all he wanted was her.

Collette

I’d kill to be the kind of dancer my mom wants me to be, but it’s just not in the cards.

I’m sick of dieting. I'll never fit into the perfect ballerina mold, and I’m tired of wishing that I could.

I’m over it. I’m done trying. I’m perfectly content to dance alone in the dark while the rest of the school is sleeping.

Ethan

Coach says our football team needs discipline. That dancing alongside a bunch of prissy prima donnas is how we’ll learn our lesson.

Only problem?

I don’t have time for ballet. Not when I’m busting my butt to be the star quarterback, the dutiful son, and the perfect student - all, so I can achieve my father’s dream.

When I meet Collette, I can’t help but take notice. She’s a vision of grace and beauty all wrapped up in snark and sass. And she helps me see that my own dreams aren’t so stupid, after all.

I just wish she could see that in herself. But when I try to bring her out into the light, I can feel her slipping away. Her walls are built up so high, I fear they’ll never come down. I want to love her like she deserves, but that’s just the problem. She doesn’t believe she deserves it...

Needed A Male Narrator

This was a really enjoyable book, many would say it's childdish and the main character was over the top with her emotions with her weight .. but let me tell you ..
The story is about Collette, who is overweight and that's preventing her from pursuing her dream which is dancing Ballet .. then we meet Ethan, who wants to be a football Quarterback AND and Guitarist, but his father is preventing him from doing that .. together they will learn to trust each other to chase after their dreams .. together
for anyone who's never been overweight, you will NEVER understand how much this will affect your self esteem in every area in your life .. as a former overweight person I can say I am still healing from the emotional scar that left me .. so no .. Collette wasn't being dramatic .. she is a teenager who's facing a great challenge and didn't find her way until she learned to accept herself .. which is something I'm still struggling to do .. so props to the authors for that, it's the first book I read that captures what it means to be overweight in a merciless society

As for the narration, I really think the book would do way better with a male narrator as she struggled to capture Ethan's voice through out the book .. but other than that she was good

The Quarterback and the Ballerina

Ethan is the team captain that has a lot of pressure on him from his mayor father. Collette wants to be a dancer but has been made to feel like she can’t be. When they are thrown together because of what Ethan’s team did they find they might be able to help each other. This was really cute and sweet. I need to know what happens to Ryan and Bianca.

2.5 stars: Over-the-top teenage angst

After 4 hours of listening to Ethan rave about Collette and repeatedly tell her she’s beautiful, followed by Collette rejecting his compliments and having an internal dialogue where she constantly talks about her size and how she’s too big to be a ballerina, I called it quits. I enjoy lighthearted, angsty, high school romances every now and then, but Collette was insufferable. I gave the story 2 stars simply because there are Harry Potter references.

sweet and wholesome

It was a sweet story but I feel it should be categorized for teens rather than young adults. I gave the story a 4 because it felt anti climatic. However, it was still enjoyable.

I couldn’t finish

I can understand how you have to give background of the characters feelings to get the reader into the story but this girl is so self hated that I can’t take it, I don’t know how ballerinas worlds work but jeez I can’t keep listing ramble about “how big I look” this and that. I saw this on ig and wanted to give it a try but nope, Next.
