About this listen

Sophia White knows she will never marry into polite society. The illegitimate daughter of a nobleman, she works at the Tantalus Club, a discreet establishment for gentlemen - and her only suitor is a pastor who wants to save her soul. So when Sophia is invited to spend the holidays at the estate of Adam Baswich, the devilishly handsome Duke of Greaves, she is delighted - and determined to enjoy her last nights of freedom before surrendering her hand.

Inviting Sophia for Christmas is a daring courtesy on Adam's part, but he soon finds the pleasure is all his. Sophia is beautiful, courageous, and stubbornly self-sufficient despite her scandalous circumstances - and not at all the kind of woman he could possibly marry. Adam knows he must find a wife by his thirtieth birthday or he will lose his fortune. But can he defy convention - and convince Sophia - to risk it all in the name of true love?

A BRILLIANT JOURNEY OF DUTY vs LOVE

If you've read or listened to any of S.E.'s books before then you know what you're going to get - a passion filled story mixed with great characters, torturous emotion filled encounters and some 'hot' spots all read by the very talented Ms Flosnik.

It's hard to pick a favorite book from her but this could be it because you can really empathise with both main characters dilemmas as they struggle with their building emotions for each other and the devastating results that will ensue.

(Spoiler Alert!!)
However, just a short grievance, and I'm no author, but it needed another final chapter or an epilogue as the ending was so abrupt it left me speechless (well alright not quite) but there was no wedding, no honeymoon or reuniting with the servants back at his home, no baby to complete the final terms of his Father's will ...... and the scenes running through my head - just a proposal and then that's it.

Worth a credit? Historical romance at it's best, despite the abrupt ending, so that would be a YES. This could be a stand alone book but why miss out on a great series.

Excellent character development. Plot lags a bit.

What made the experience of listening to Rules to Catch a Devilish Duke the most enjoyable?

As usual, Anne Flosnik brought so much to story - her characters' voices are distinct and pertinent to their personality. The heroine was VERY well developed, an individual, believable.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The Duke was conflicted and his pathos was true.

Have you listened to any of Anne Flosnik’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Flosnik is consistently great!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! I would have, had I the time.

Any additional comments?

If I could be sure that every book was as good as this one, I'd have an UNLIMITED Audible membership! - which doesn't exist, but you get my meaning!

Needed an epilogue!

Loved this story, but I would have loved to read more about their story in the future. It needed to be tied up.

Favorite of a wonderful series...

What made the experience of listening to Rules to Catch a Devilish Duke the most enjoyable?

I am a fan of Suzanne Enoch and have enjoyed the two previous books very much. Anne Flosnik is one of my favorite narrators and the combination lived up to all of my expectations. Highly recommended.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rules to Catch a Devilish Duke?

The changes that the Duke of Greaves goes through in becoming a better human being and settling old issues by taking responsibility for his errors--not a thing he believes a Duke should do!

Which character – as performed by Anne Flosnik – was your favorite?

The Duke of Greaves---though all characters were very well done...as usual.

My favourite out of the series...love the heroine!

Love, love, love the heroine in this book, she is vulnerable yet resilient, smart and kind, determined to make the best out every situation. Duke is a strong characters and almost a perfect hero as well but I like how Sofia takes a centre stage without being domineering and charms with her wit, humour and optimism.
I am becoming addicted to Suzanne Enoch’s books, she is one of the rare breed of writes who can create interesting plots and memorable strong characters without using cheap and annoying tricks like misunderstandings and miscommunications when H and h can hold lengthy internal dialogs without uttering a word to each other.

This book is definitely a keeper, will listen to it again in the future 🌟

An ABRUPT Ending!

I really enjoyed this book; however, I felt that the book ended too abruptly. I didn't feel like there was a lot of closer. The Duke says will you marry me, she says yes and THE END.

I would have liked the ending better if the Duke would have arrived with a special license, made the stuffy, pretentious young Vicar marry them and then had him shipped off to India and his mother shipped off to a convent. If the ending wouldn't have been so abrupt I would have given the story 5 stars as I really loved the story.

I also thought that Greaves should have told her who paid for her education so that Sophia would learn that there was someone totally unexpected looking out for her well being. (Tried not to give any spoilers!)

I loved Sophia and the fact that regardless of what life threw at her she still had spunk. The Duke of Greaves learned to appreciate and respect Sophia's outlook on life. I thought this book was definitely the best in the series so far; however, the ending was rather abrupt.

Anne Flosnik isn't one of my favorite narrators as I feel like she's always got a mouth full of spit, but she always delivers a dependable performance. I will not turn away from books narrated by Ms. Flosnik; however, I also not intentionally search for them either.

I would definitely recommend this book because there are interesting characters and Sophia is just a delight. I will listen to this book over and over again.

Cute

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it was cute and there were plenty of funny and romantic scenes! Although, it didn't compel me to complete the series.
