Publisher's summary

In book two of Craig Martelle's End Times Alaska series, the Nagy family will be tested like never before.

After enduring the holocaust that destroyed Fairbanks, Chuck and his family did more than simply endure. They thrived. Together with other survivors, the Nagys are rebuilding their lives in the Alaskan wilderness, creating a better society. But the Russian military is closing in like a pack of wolves, and suddenly, in spite of all their progress, Chuck must make one of the hardest decisions of his life.

Ultimately, Chuck leads the survivors through 300 miles of Alaskan wilderness in a fight for freedom. The odds are stacked against them. Food is scarce and the weather is brutal, but Chuck unites the remaining survivors before they all - even his own children - are forced to pay the ultimate price.

Fans of military fiction will love the power, suspense, and deep family commitment of the End Times: Alaska series.

An enjoyable listen

What did you like best about this story?

The characters and landscape

What does Chris Abernathy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He has a nice tone though his speech was halting in spots.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The ending had a strong emotional effect.

Any additional comments?

This is a great story with the potential to be a lot more than it currently is. Weighty dialog slows it down but all in all it is a great feel good story.

Different !

Very different end of days series. It is the End of the World as we Know it! Love this song and so does the characters in this series! The end comes to Alaska not from a typical EMP but from an apparent war with Russia! Everyone has disappeared , where the heck did they go??? Can not wait until the 3rd book is available on whisper sinc so that I can listen to it and the 4th book! Great characters and great choice of narrator! Nice addition to any end of the world catalog!

The Russians are coming!

Chuck continues to search for survivors and additional supplies that they may use. He discovers that most everyone is gone; the questions of why and where they went go unanswered. Only a couple willing to shoot at Chuck are encountered and Chuck had to deal with them decisively. The lodge and its group of survivors continued to be a weekly visit for the distraction and the companionship. With a larger generator, a supply of gas, fuel oil, and split wood Chuck’s family lived almost as they had before the explosion. Eventually a couple encounters with soldiers and the descriptions of vehicles got Chuck believing that Russian troops were here in Alaska. Chuck’s initial outlook had been, “Our new world was so much smaller, yet more fulfilling.” This outlook would change abruptly. It was time to leave the lodge; the situation in the area was heating up. Chuck’s fear of Russian troops was coming true. A very good story and a wonderful narrator.
