About this listen

This is the second book in the Peaceful Warrior Saga. Neither a sequel nor prequel, this adventure takes place within the context of the original book, shedding new light on the path he was to travel, and would one day teach.

After a period of training with the man he calls Socrates, Dan Millman is sent away by his old mentor to apply what he has learned to everyday life.

Struggling with personal failure and growing disillusion, Dan sets out on a worldwide quest to rediscover the sense of clarity, meaning, and purpose he found with Socrates. Then, a long-forgotten memory drives Dan to seek a mysterious woman shaman in Hawaii. She is the gateway to all his hopes and fears - and the only one who can prepare him for what may follow.

Deep in a rain forest on the island of Molokai, Dan encounters mortal challenges, vivid characters, and startling revelations as he ascends the peaceful warrior's path toward the light that shines at the heart of creation. In this compelling tale, the author breathes new life into ancient wisdom and reminds us that all our journeys are sacred, and all our lives an adventure.

Critic reviews

"Few people live and express the spirit of the peaceful warrior as eloquently as Dan Millman. His books are true teaching stories - entertaining and entrancing, wise and awakening." So many times in this book were so real to me! I have been adrift in this world many times! I have held my breath so long I thought I would die as well. I will always try to be kinder!

Thank You for writing this!

Dan's writing has a way of helping a once stubborn young man see how truly foolish we were in our younger years, when we thought we knew it all. This "reality" of course is put to rest with time, experience & an expanded understanding that only life & mentors you admire help you to see. These books help me to realize how important it is to continue to seek wisdom in everyone you meet & every experience God blesses us with. What a great journey this life can be when allow ourselves to let go of the illusions of control we believe we have over our lives & our journey.

What an eye opening journey.

An extremely moving story, a great listen and I'm on my third already.

I feel this is almost as good as Way of the Peaceful Warrior, the latter being a closer to "true" story, but frankly, it feels just as real.

Like Way of the Peaceful Warrior, it's 100% uplifting and inspiring, with no dark corners.

Perfect for people interested in love.

Something magical about Dan...

This is truly a wonderful and beautiful story. There were several parts to this story that actually brought me to tears. I have never had that kind of reaction from reading or listening to an audio book before. There are so many wise lessons to be learned and so much information to gain from this book. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. I thoroughly enjoyed Dan’s narration of the book because his voice is very pleasant and he does the characters quite well. This book is truly a page turner, as I found myself trying to listen to it at every possible moment that I had free. Thank you Dan! :-))

Extremely Moving!

Was this possibly better than The Way of the Peaceful Warrior? Yes. Or possibly it was me that was more developed, further along in my own journey, so I was even more able to connect with Dan Millman's story...

The Answer doesn't matter. What matters is what I've become during the time I've been listening to this book.

Dan, I am grateful for the glass...

WOW. Dare I say it was even better?
