Publisher's summary

Michael Merrick is used to pressure. He's the only parent his three brothers have had for years. His power to control Earth could kill someone if he miscalculates. Now an Elemental Guide has it out for his family, and he's all that stands in the way. Michael's girlfriend, Hannah, gets that. She's got a kid of her own and a job as a firefighter that could end her life without a moment's notice. But there are people who have had enough of Michael's defiance. Before he knows it, Michael's enemies have turned into the Merricks' enemies, and they're armed for war. They're not interested in surrender. But Michael isn't the white flag type anyway. There will be blood on the ground tonight...

Good but something is off

This book felt a little rushed by the author. Not quite as much character development. The main character's girlfriend also read as far less mature than she was in previous books. Actually, so did all of the characters, except for Tyler. I missed a lot of the people we'd met in previous stories that never reappeared in this book, but were supposed to be part of their daily lives. Overall, the story felt like it was missing some of the personal dynamics that made the other books in the series feel more complete.

Broken hearted! Don’t read if you do not want a spoiler

I have a broken heart now! This book broke me in so many ways! Loved all the boys but oh my heaven this book created an ending I never thought would happen! Such a bad ending to such a wonderful series! My poor Hunter!

Great Story. Not so great narrator.

I hope in the future if Roger Wayne picks up a series that has books before it, he will take the time to listen to them before deciding how to properly portray the characters. I have listened to all of the books in the Elemental series that come before this book and they were narrated by different people. Having already listened to the story of these characters, each has their own personality and were portrayed as such. The book Secret, which was the installment directly preceding this one, revolved around the character Nick Merrick. Another character that had a lot of involvement was Tyler. I thought the portrayal of Tyler was great in the last book and Roger Wayne shot that all to hell. Why did he all of a sudden have a southern accent?! Wtf?! And Roger make him AND Gabriel sound like COMPLETE idiots when they spoke! Roger Wayne should have at least listened to some of the preceding books to get an idea of who these characters really were because this almost completely ruined the book for me. You can't completely change a character at the end of a series. I was thoroughly disappointed in the performance for this reason. The portrayal of the other characters was fine but her REALLY screwed up the story for two MAJOR characters in this book. I really wish Charlie Thurston or Graham Halstead would have narrated this book as well.

shocked by outcome

I would never thought Hunter to selfless give up and understood what his father stated. Then took to heart and spirit.
