About this listen

A team of CIA contractors travel to Southeast Asia to investigate a series of bombings that have taken the lives of Tier One Advance Force Operators. When the mission fails, intelligence specialist Sean Havens is sent to the jungles of Burma to determine the missing soldiers' whereabouts. On the ground, Havens learns of an unlikely axis of Russia, China, and Iran that may have plans beyond illicit trafficking. But is this a ruse to mask a global financial market manipulation to fund elections and buy alliances?

Out of his element and looking to disrupt the looming global threats, Havens struggles to use his adaptability, guile, and tradecraft, as his personal losses wrestle for attention. His actions may have further consequences when the Shadow Masters learn of his meddling, sending Havens again into the deadly game of secret societies and a New World Order. From Chicago and Fayetteville to Burma, Thailand, and New York, death continues to follow Havens and those in his wake.

Here is what makes Primed Charge different

What made the experience of listening to Safe Havens: Primed Charge the most enjoyable?

Let me tell what you makes JT Patten’s Safe Havens series and his latest, Primed Charge, different than many books in the thriller genre. It isn’t his deep knowledge of black operations. Or details on weapons. Or the interaction of the numerous special operations groups, systems, and tactics. Or his adroit weaving of international issues into a contemporary action thriller.

What makes Primed Charge different is JT’s relentless reminder that the characters living in his world are just people. They are people with families, imperfections, worries, and hopes. People are the mortar holding all the weapons, operations, issues, and groups together. I appreciate a thriller that is more than thrilling. I appreciate his willingness to remind us we are not protected by superhuman beings—we are protected by dedicated members of our family.

Primed Charge is a refreshing combination of action and humanity.

Disappointed

The story was good but the narration was distracting. Very loud then dwindling volume makes it hard to hear. Will not buy anything with this narrator.

Great second novel and continuing story!

A great second book by JT Patten. Great story development from Shadow Masters to Primed Charge. The changes in Havens as he adjusts to his new job and relocation. Plus trying to cope with his new life. I like the character of Lars and was glad to see him in this sequel. Looking forward to the development and progress of Maggie. I am not sure how I feel about the major twist, but will reserve judgement to see how it plays out in the next installment.
I enjoyed the detail of training and weapons. I especially liked the global money laundering detail. It is not for everyone but was far more detailed and realistic compared to how money laundering/financial transactions are perpetrated in the criminal or shadow world.
The audio was great and performance was enjoyable. Each character was given a distinct and appropriate voice. Well done.

If you didn't know now you know!

I was skeptical that Patton could meet the tempo of his last - He met and exceeded the bar ! this guy knows the the business and can do the dance which leads to exciting story lines and deep character development . BRING BACK THE TREE CHIPPER!
