About this listen

The O'Brien family once again finds themselves ensconced in a criminal investigation when a young asylum seeker washes ashore on Dublin's rocky coast.

Cormac Carrington relocated to Ireland to be closer to his O'Brien kin. While exploring employment opportunities, he offers pro-bono legal aid for asylum seekers and unaccompanied children who have evacuated their homes in Ukraine. During a fundraising gala, he crosses paths with a beautiful Italian woman. They will both be pulled into the intrigue of a detained woman and her missing little brother.

Set in a sprawling European city, the worldwide sickness of human trafficking will touch the O'Brien family, and they will band together to save one small child. Cormac will prove his mettle by shielding a young, shattered woman with the only weapon he has: the law.

I LOVED everything about this book! Books eight and nine I felt rather neutral about (I just didn’t enjoy them as I had Books 1-8 in the series) — I felt they were lacking the “spark” all the other books prior had, but the spark was definitely back in this story, as were all the favorite O’Brien characters.💕

Various family members team up to solve an international human trafficking ring based out of Dublin, Ireland. The details were not overly graphic, but were just enough to be a reminder that such evil sadly really exists in our world and there are still so many innocent victims out there that need rescuing. Thank God for all those who devote their lives and careers to rescuing these victims and breaking up the evil people who run these rings. I can’t imagine the horrors these heroes see everyday and carry in their minds and hearts. Because of what they see and do, the rest of us don’t have to.

In this book, we learn a whole lot more about cousin Cormack, a seemingly cool, Irish lawyer on the outside, but like all the O’Brien men, is all fire on the inside. takes meeting Catarina, a beautiful, hot, fiery wine maker from Italy, for Cormack himself to realize how much more there is to him than just the cool, reserved lawyer he presents to the rest of the world. Cormack and Catarina may be two people drawn to each other like magnets, but there is one big problem — he lives in Dublin and is devoted to his family, and she lives in Italy and is utterly devoted to her family and their very successful family winery.

Back in Dublin, there is Brenna and Finn and their extraordinary children, Cora and Colin. Cora has had psychic power since early toddlerhood, but Colin, at the age of 10 is suddenly having strange dreams and daytime episodes of “seeing” things. This newly discovered power has him and his parents completely unnerved. The only one NOT surprised is Cora. Colin finds a book with the family history, written in old Irish, dating back over 400 years.

The book reveals much about the O’Brien clan, but perhaps most importantly, that there is a very unhappy witch in their family history…

I sincerely hope that this subtly dropped clue is the jumping off point for the next book in this series!!! Surely, Ms. Reynolds wouldn’t drop a clue like that and then leave her devoted O’Brien fans hanging!

I ADORE this family and feel like I am somehow part of the clan. There is one more book about Antonio (a doctor introduced in Book 4 in Belize from Izzy and Liam’s time there and the brother to Catarina) that’s up next for me to read, but after that, I guess my only choice is to either say goodbye to the O’Brien clan and look for something else to read or start this series all over from the beginning and pray that by the time I’ve reached the end of the series for the second time, Ms. Reynolds and Ms.Eyre have published Book 12. You can probably guess which option I’ll be taking.💕

Kudos to Ms. Reynolds and Ms. Eyre for their amazing work. Their collaboration has given me untold hours of reading/listening pleasure!

Always a great time with the O'Briens. I enjoy that her old characters are all still part of the various storylines with side stories. It's fun to watch as they age & grow, as individuals & as a family.

GOOD CRAIC

Bravo to Stacey! All the books in this series have been very good reads. Keep the tissues on hand as the subject matter made me quite sad, but l like all the other books they have a good ending ❤️

I have fallen in love with these characters and I love that they were created for the greater good. However this one seems a bit forced and I didn’t feel like I had time to enjoy their story. I felt as though most of the focus is atrocities of war.

Please don’t misunderstand that totally deserves the attention and is extraordinarily important we all understand what is happening in the world around us. However, we do listen to escape reality so I would love to have more about he the love of this most special extended family.

I love the way Ms. Reynolds integrates the most difficult parts of life with falling in love and staring a life together. I also love that she expands the stories of all the characters she has created. I have looked forward to every book.

I may have overused the word love, but all my sentiments are true.

I love this series

I am always amazed how your books make such hard subjects to have beautiful hearts to get through them. This is another awesome journey of love.

Another great story

I loved the continuation of the storyline of the wonderful family members and spouses and their children. A fine romance between Katarina and Cormac.
Justine has a lovely voice and I enjoy hearing the book with her accent. They way the woman all support each other is amazing.
I truly enjoyed the girls’ slumber party. Each story has family singing as a centerpiece and now I have begun to sing to my grandchildren. Excellent story all around! Thanks Stacey, you are magnificent!
