About this listen

After hundreds of years without a true king, the desert land of Nezza is in danger of falling under the rule of a ruthless lord advised by an evil wizard with dark intentions. A desperate cry for help brings Alexander Taylor to this perilous land and sets events in motion that will require him to rescue an old friend from and impenetrable dungeon.

Once in Nezza, Alex meets a new band of adventurers and joins them in their quest to find young Prince Rallian - the man destined to become the rightful king of Nezza. In their path lies a deadly sand monster, a wise and insightful oracle, a massive army of illusions, and a host of lords and leaders ready to fight for - and against - the king of their land. But a dark shadow threatens Alex's every step. And in Nezza, a land where magic is feared and wizards are held in suspicion, Alex will have to be more wise and cunning than ever before if he and his friends are to succeed - or even survive.

great story and characters

my favorite part was when Alex had dragged the giant snake out by the neck with the cloud hand, I never wanted to stop listening but had to for sleep and work, I like this book a lot and would sent it to my friends and family

A modest review

The story was excellent. The narration, while good, wasn't as vibrant as the earlier books.

Great continuation to the series!

Great series! A little slow at times but provides great detail about the land/characters/and events happening. Can't wait to read the next one!

Great series, but should have kept previous narrator

My 9yo and 12yo have totally enjoyed this series, however we were so disappointed when we started this book and EB Stevens was no longer the narrator. We eventually adjusted but even at the end, my kids are unsure if they want to listen to the next book given the narration. I should say the narrator isn’t terrible, but compared to Mr. Stevens he just isn’t as good and to change the narrator in the middle of a series is tough.

Change of narrator disappointing

If you could sum up Sands of Nezza in three words, what would they be?

Adventure, Intrigue, Mysterious.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Alex, as always, being the main character in the series. My favorite also because we are seeing him so rapidly grow as not just a character but a person. (Though, Sklad secondly because he is one of my favorite recurring characters!)

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

More emotions, more distinctiveness between characters, women's voices lacked/all sounded roughly the same.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

The sudden change from E. B. Steven's to Bray was unexpected. Bray did fine, but not compared to the other books. Not just his performance, but the editing done later on. It felt like the entire production lacked compared to the last three books, and was overall very disappointing. Again, if you don't look at it in the context of the prior three books, it wasn't bad. But it was hard to be excited by this performance when it was so lackluster compared to the quality of the first three books.

Another Long and Happy Adventure

Another unexpected twist while still keeping it a happy adventure. If you can imagine a tour guide selling adventures where things seem like things might go wrong, but we know how things go by now. A fun jaunt again.

Excellent Adventure!

Fantastically written! M.L. Forman has done it again! Action packed adventure.

The change in narrators makes Alex seem a little more arrogant, older, less reflective at times. It took some time getting used to a new narrator as I have listened to all the books in the series in succession. The characters seemed a bit detached from one another as compared to the characters in the first 3 books...could just be me feeling detached from the narrator!

Still a very excellent adventure! Leaves me wanting more!!!
