About this listen

At Sanguine Academy, blood is the only thing that matters. Too bad Michael's is trying to kill him.

As a child, I was nearly killed by a demon, and ever since, the only thing I've cared about is becoming a blood knight. Using the mana inside my blood to protect others from the monsters that plague the world.

Eight years I devoted to training, and finally, I was ready to be tested. My blood was measured and assessed, laid bare for all to see.

And it was found wanting.

I was given the lowest rank possible, just barely meeting the requirements to take the prestigious Sanguine Academy entrance exam.

But I aim to prove them wrong.

Pure determination can only see me so far, and all of my training will be put to the test as I find more than a few obstacles in my way. I've got new friends, rivals, and lovers surrounding me, but blood is the only thing that matters in this academy.

I'm going to show them all that mine is stronger than they could've possibly imagined.

Warning: contains unconventional relationships and adult situations.

Teaser

There's hints at why the MC takes his circumstances so hard but no actual explanation which left me a little confused on why he took them so hard, its almost like I missed a prologue or picked up book 2 instead, otherwise not bad for a book that's basically half of a high school first year

Wow

Holy crow this was a cool book. I love the whole idea of the book, and the character growth is truly impressive. Narration is solid, and the character relationships are a beautiful thing to behold. This series is a a must read and I am truly excited for more!

exceptional

a breath of fresh air and different take on a magical system. the mc does the start from the bottom but works his way up but he does struggle to do so. the supporting characters help both professionally and emotionally so the mc isn't alone in his predicament overall an entertaining and well put together title. looking forward to book 2

I wish I had gone to this College

This is a great freshman outing for a new series. There were enough twists and turns to keep you interested along with giving you the standard college reference marks. If the sophomore outing proves as good as this first one that I think we’re in for a great education.

breath of fresh air

this book is great, the MC is not OP. does not have a secret power. (more or less) does not have a god gift, was not born with greatness. he works his ass off to get just a bit more stronger. it shows. Im tired of all the "born with power" "blessed since birth" "a gift form god" MC. all the characters have depth to them. only a few were caricatures (like 2-3). I can't wait to hear more. for me I always love books that has this goal, "hard work always beats natural talent."

whiny mc

A completely whiny MC who constantly complains about his place in life.

Partial spoiler: it took the MC about half the book to figure out what was wrong with his magic. He had plenty of plenty of time to ASK why he was different but I guess the author wants the audience to feel unnecessary frustration to get to that point.

Meh dnf

Not great very typical and whiney if you want to hear some guy bitchandmoan about life not going the way he dreamed then give this a listen. And please when your characters are young adults pick a narrator that fits and not some dude that sounds 30. Brung me out the story hearing his voice when addressing professors and adults.
And the harem that's being setup is unbelievably stupid. The MC and gf knew each other for years and finally verbally confessed their feelings for each other even though they knew what each other felt but the gf is secretly a cuck and don't care who her bf sleeps with (omg what a surprise, it's almost like a male wrote this). This book is super anime inspired so you should know the quality is bad going in. This book is like your typical 12 episode anime you just consume it because there's nothing better out atm.

No Development

Not enough development. There are many books with similar run times that get more done then this one. I honestly don't care about anyone in this book. Instead of getting more exposition, we get "I'm famished" for what seems every other sentence.
