Good Love Story!

I liked both the hero and heroine. The inclusion of the heroine's little deaf daughter offers opportunities for change and growth for our hero. The little girl offers insight into several characters and greater depth to this story.

Savage Rising

Savage Rising by Katie Reus
Savage Rising is the 2nd installation in the new Redemption Harbor Series. I love this series! This can be read as a stand alone, but I think it always is great to know the characters and some back story. This story brings us Zac Savage and Olivia Carter. She has had a sketchy past but now as a mom is determined to lead a good life for her young daughter Valencia. Her past has returned to blackmail her and threaten her daughter. Zac is former military badass who works for Redemption Harbor and is brought in to be her undercover partner. The sparks fly, the attraction is real and the story is great. I can't recommend this enough. I could not put it down! Sophie Eastlake is once again the narrator for Katie's book.

Fast paced action complete with a "fake" romance

Sophie Eastlake is one of my favorite narrators and she really gives this series an energy that is befitting such incredible writing. This audiobook doesn’t necessarily follow book 1 but I encourage everyone to read the series in order because it will give the reader a sense of the players and their history.
Zac Savage is a former marine working special contracts when he is tasked to play pretend boyfriend to Olivia Carter, who is being blackmailed to do a theft job. Olivia has a daughter Valencia and so Olivia is afraid that they will harm her little girl. Desperation leads her to take her daughter for safe keeping to her friend Skye who lives in Redemption Harbor. Skye hooks her up with a plan that will not only get the blackmailer off her back but ensure that Skye’s past as a white-collar thief will remain hidden. The problem is that Savage and Olivia’s fake relationship was starting to get real since they were attracted to each other.
How can they ensure the success of their mission especially when Valencia’s father, Olivia’s ex, shows up?
This book definitely didn’t suffer from the sophomore jinx. I listened to the audiobook in one sitting. The plot was engaging and fast paced. The writing and characters were developed well. I was glued to the action and couldn’t wait to see how Savage and Olivia would pull it off. I found their chemistry to be authentic and I loved their energy. The story was entertaining and I love books with happy endings. This series is going on my auto-buy list.

Another great story in this series

I loved book one of this series, and this one did not disappoint me.
Once again, we go back to Redemption Harbor and the Redemption Harbor Consulting company. An agency made up of lifelong friends that are as close as a family can be, and whose goal is to help those in need. Not always “coloring inside the lines”.
This story gives us Zac Savage, and Olivia Carter. These two have a past they are not proud of, but have been able to overcome .
Savage has recently joined his friends’ company. He is called upon to help Olivia and her daughter Valencia. Olivia is a college friend of Skye’s , who considers her a sister. Skye is a character in book 1.
Without giving away the plot , suffice is to say that it’s a story filled with non-stop intrigue, bad guys, ex-boyfriend, double crossing , and action that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
And let’s not forget, a strong attraction between Olivia and Zac. So great that both wish what they never thought would be possible to have in their lives, love and a future with someone special.
Not only did the author deliver us a complex, and well developed plot, but she also gives us strong main and secondary characters. I love the fact that the females are dynamic.
The narrator, Ms Sophie Eastlake, brings the story to life.
I voluntarily listened to this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

personal book review

while I really enjoyed the book, I really don't like the sex scenes or the sexual language.
