About this listen

When Brandy Trentler's wealthy family insists she marry the jerk who cheated on her, she signs up for the Stryxian mate lottery.

Who knew her number would be drawn in the first round? Nothing goes right after that - the transport ship is attacked, she is captured by the enemy Morr-ta aliens and thrown in prison. When a gorgeous Stryxian warrior rescues her, she thinks she's won freedom and her fated mate, but he has some big, bad secret, and apparently, it's a deal breaker for him.

Kando Cardax probably shouldn't go back into the enemy's lair to rescue the human female, but he cannot leave her to certain death. He also cannot hide his metal cyborg parts from her forever, especially since with each passing moment, he's falling in love with her. Passions flare as the two take refuge in a hidden section of the enemy base, but a discovery that could upend the Morr-ta war makes their odds of survival slim. Kando will do anything to protect Brandy as they fight to flee the enemy base, even if it means revealing himself as a cyborg to save her. All he's known is fear and aversion to cyborgs like him. Why should he expect Brandy to react any differently? And how will he let her go when he is asked to make the ultimate sacrifice to save both the Stryxian and human species?

This is book two in the Stryxian Alien Warriors series. The author writes what they love to read: always consent and a happy ending, and never cheating or cliff-hangers.

Ok

The storyline was ok and narrators did a good job with characters. Glad we were given a sample of the next book in the series; had I not already obtained it I probably would have passed on it; I can’t stand unnecessarily rude and obnoxious females.

Alien Cyborg!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙❤️💚
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 😊😘😟🤓
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Brandy - she comes from a wealthy human family on Earth. Her parents expected a lot of her. When she caught her fiancee cheating on her with two other women, and they still expected her to marry him, she rebelled by signing up for the Stryxian lottery. Stryxians are a race of aliens who helped Earth in a battle with the Morr’ta and in exchange, wanted females to mate with because their race had lost many of their females due to low birth rates.

The Hero: Kando - he is a Stryxian cyborg spy. He went aboard a Morr’ta spaceship using hologram skin to disguise himself as a Morr’ta warrior. He was trying to intercept and save one of his assets from execution and get her away to her own home world. He had been a Stryxian warrior who, during their war with the Morr’ta had been taken captive and experimented on and turned into a cyborg.

The Story: When the space shuttle Brandy was on, taking her to Stryxia was invaded by the Morr’ta she was put in an escape pod which was picked up by the Morr’ta ship. She meets Kando in the prison cell before she is removed and taken to the Lab to be experimented on. The Morr’ta were happy to get a human female as she was their first. Meanwhile, Kando had rescued the spy he came for, but returned to the Morr’ta ship to rescue Brandy. The lab brought back horrific memories for him, but he was determined to save Brandy.

I love cyborgs, so this cyborg alien story was a good one. Kando thought he would never have a mate because he was turned into a cyborg and also because he thought his soul was removed which is what bonds to a mate. Brandy was a good character as well, though at times she was very much a damsel in distress and hid behind Kando when things got dicey. However, she was great in the spaceship when she had to take on firing at the Morr’ta ships, her gaming expertise came in handy and she did a great job.

This book was told in two points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Zachary Johnson and Elle Sonali. Both of these narrators have pleasing voices. Elle sounds intelligent and age appropriate for Brandy while Zachary has a nice deep voice which is perfect for the seven-foot-tall alien males.

I
Loved the story like a lot. It was very entertaining and the male narrative was just fantastic! The female narrative was just average.

The Narrators SUCKED.... The FMC TSTL

BOTH NARRATORS SUCKED.... they both have the tendency to over enunciate their words! neither narrator makes the characters sound sexy as they're supposed to. it's off-putting...... the FMC is too stupid to live it's the same with the FMC in the first book as well they both suffer from this I'm too tough syndrome and they don't know when to fall back, as if doing so makes you weak! also, I can't stand when a woman gets upset with a man for not having sex with her! that's exactly what she did almost as soon as she met her the man was trying to respect her and she felt disrespected because the man didn't want to have sex with her! the FMC was very hard to like. I was not invested in any of these characters. the book was not good to me I wish I wouldn't have read it.
