Publisher's summary

Handsome and mysterious, he swoops in to offer me a new life, but this is no knight in shining armor. He’s cold, hardened by his past. But there’s an inferno underneath the ice. I can feel the heat each time he looks at me - each time he gives in to the desire between us.

No matter how much I push to unleash the fire in his eyes, he shoves back harder each time. He’s merciless with his cruel words, telling me how naive I am, how little I know of the world.

But I’m stronger than he thinks.

When we face down our demons from the past, I’ll prove which one of us was in need of saving and which one of us is the savior.

It’s okay

Not as good as the other books in the series. I would probably return it if I hadn’t returned another book before listening to this. The narrators were good, but the female just didn’t draw me in. It sounded like she was reading slowly in parts. She has a nice voice, just not enough inflection.

not my fave in the series

I almost DNF’d this one. It got better and I finished it. After listening to the previous book In the series which was 🔥🔥🔥, this one just fell flat for me.

Painful but gives important back story

The post important part to know about this book is that it bridges Lovers and Another and provides important backstories and timelines to things happening in those stories. Now to the uncomfortable leading characters in this book - I am convinced she would have received the same treatment had she not been saved. He was cruel and did not do enough to earn her love and trust.

Oookay…

I like Fiona Cole but I suppose I haven’t read in awhile because there was no point that the main female character was 19. She could have easily been at least 21 especially with her background… 24-26 would have been a perfect age…

The story was meh… heard it before and can’t stand the main characters who have no self preservation none but yet get super super lucky 🙄

That’s all I got… is it worth it? 🤔 depends on what you like… if you are over female main characters who act dumb but they’re supposedly smart then yeah… otherwise there are other Fiona Cole books that are better,..

So humiliating and icky, not sexy

My God. Why a heroine willing to take so much humiliation? I mean a lot, a lot - and I enjoy captive romance! The chemistry was off the charts hot to begin with but some mental abuse cannot be undone or unseen. Even a woman or girl with zero self respect would not stick around after the first few instances. Her willingness to take it time after time and still want more from him is disgusting, especially when he keeps calling her stupid for it for the whole book. So when the sex finally came, I wanted to be ill because the scenes were well-written and still hot AF. I lost pride just by listening. I feel icky!
