Publisher's summary

A breakout media and political analyst delivers a sweeping snapshot of American democracy and the role that African Americans have played in its shaping while offering concrete information to help harness the electoral power of the country’s rising majority and exposing political forces aligned to subvert and suppress black voters.

Black voters were critical to the Democrats’ 2018 blue wave. In fact, 90 percent of black voters supported Democratic House candidates, compared to just 53 percent of all voters. Despite media narratives, this was not a fluke. Throughout US history, black people have played a crucial role in the shaping of the American experiment. Yet still, this powerful voting bloc is often dismissed as some “amorphous” deviation, argues Tiffany Cross.

Say It Louder! is her explosive examination of how America’s composition was designed to exclude black voters but paradoxically would likely cease to exist without them. With multiple tentacles stretching into the cable news echo chamber, campaign leadership, and black voter data, Cross creates a wrinkle in time with a reflective look at the timeless efforts endlessly attempting to deny people of color the right to vote - a basic tenet of American democracy.

And yet as the demographics of the country are changing, so, too, is the electoral power construct - by evolution and by force, Cross declares. Grounded in the most up-to-date research, Say It Louder! is a vital tool for a wide swath of constituencies.

Brilliant and masterful!

Tiffany is simply brilliant!
An absolute must read! I became an instant fan of hers the first time I saw her on AM Joy! I can't wait to hear more from her forever! She articulated my thoughts and opinions like I could never, and intrigued me every minute!
Congratulations, my young Sista!

Magnificent!

Ms. Cross addresses life in America for black Americans. With a focus on the absence of black voices in media and the repercussions of the silence.

A great look at white bias in media and America, especially for those of us with white skin.

Tiffany Cross

Was pleasantly surprised that such a beautiful lady could produce a book of this magnitude. Not saying cute ladies are dumb but had to put into my report. Excellent job on the history of black people and how we’ve been treated and why we really should read more so that we aren’t left in the dark regarding life. I thoroughly enjoyed you on tv and this book didn’t disappoint. Hopefully I will see you in the future doing something great as well. Again, outstanding book and just know you are not finished . Thank you Miss Tiffany.

Tiffany’s candid voice

Tiffany’s well researched book is fearless and informative. Her voice, and that of others, is sorely needed. Especially in today’s failed journalism.

Refreshing perspective

I very much enjoyed hearing Tiffany's experience navigating the news rooms of some of our most popular outlets. Despite her book likely being well into production and release as some of the more tumultuous events of 2020 have unfolded (the pandemic, the murders of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery, the protests, the Central Park Karen), all of Tiffany's framing and historical context apply perfectly to present day. The lack of diversity in main stream media is a blind spot that continues to have substantial impact on women and people of color everyday. If this course is not corrected, there is no question this failing will be a direct contribution to the downfall of this great nation. Huge thanks to Tiffany for sharing her perspective! I definitely look forward to seeing changes as a result of her advocacy and to hearing more from her!

On Point and Timely

Excellent and thought provoking that inspires the reader to research and investigate further for your own edification. Ms. Cross’ conversational tone in the reading and writing of this book kept me engaged and hanging on each word waiting for the next. She didn’t talk at me, but to me. My only complaint is that I wish there were more. Meaning I wish it could be addendums added to cover what is going on in real time daily. Like John Lewis’ funeral and President Obama’s eulogy and the right’s indignation to it.
Great job! Hope to first to get your next book. #CrossTalk
