Publisher's summary

When Meredith Mitchell agreed to stay with her actress cousin, Eve, in the run up to Eve's daughter's wedding, she anticipated a degree of drama. But she can hardly have expected it to include murder, blackmail, and unrequited love. Or to involve a certain Chief Inspector Markby, a middle-aged divorcee.

As material witness to the only case of murder the Cotswold village of Westerfield has ever seen, Meredith soon becomes involved in the case and with helping Chief Inspector Markby. Meredith is a career diplomat and soon needs her considerable skills when steering a path between her duty to the police and loyalty to her cousin's family.

Didn't like the female main character

I really did NOT like the main female character, and I couldn't figure out why the male MC did. I found her to be arrogant, self serving and pretty dense at times. She was judgemental about others and kind to her own shortcomings. It may have been deliberate on the author's part, but it didn't work for me. The mystery did, and I found that to be worth the book.

Well Wrought Tale.. Great Author

I don’t know how I have missed this author altogether through my searches for solid English mysteries...
It was extremely well written and I’m going to buy more of hers immediately

Shame on you Audible!

I absolutely cannot believe you do not carry multiple books in this series! I just finished book one and wanted to move right on to nook two. Alas, Audible doesn't carry that title. Why? And why not book 5? 7? Thumbs down, Audible

Boring!

There is no mystery, no suspense and female main characters are as dumb as can be. Very disappointing.
