About this listen

"Doesn't matter who did it. Not anymore. I did the time. It's over."

When Drix was convicted of a crime - one he didn't commit - he thought his life was over. But opportunity came with the Second Chance Program, the governor's newest pet project to get delinquents off the streets, rehabilitated, and back into society. Drix knows this is his chance to get his life back on track, even if it means being paraded in front of reporters for a while.

Elle knows she lives a life of privilege. As the governor's daughter, she can open doors with her name alone. But the expectations and pressure to be someone she isn't may be too much to handle. She wants to follow her own path, whatever that means.

When Drix and Elle meet, their connection is immediate, but so are their problems. Drix is not the type of boy Elle's parents have in mind for her, and Elle is not the kind of girl who can understand Drix's messy life.

But sometimes love can breach all barriers.

Fighting against a society that can't imagine them together, Drix and Elle must push themselves - Drix to confront the truth of the robbery and Elle to assert her independence - and each other to finally get what they deserve.

Predictable story brought to life by the voices

Though the story was predictable and similar to many YA novels, the voice actors were incredibly talented and were able to bring the characters to life. This would be worth a listen to hear their talent, but don't bother purchasing the book on its own. Whatever value could be found in discussions of parental control and the prison system is drowned out by constant repetition and unnecessarily long descriptions of character's outfits, hairstyles, lips (yup), etc. I've offered three stars for the mystery that twines through the story- despite how predictable it may be, it flows naturally and has a solid climax.

Story that touches several cords

Katie McGarry’s gives voice to teens with issues that I have seen. Drix has talent, but like many musicians he let the fame, groupies and good times carry him along on a high, disregarding family and friends. Until one night he was in the wrong place at the right time. Passed out in an alley with the gun and clothing of the assailant of an armed robbery he is charged with armed robbery. He gets lucky and is placed in a program meant to show that with the right kind of support and direction, teens can straighten up.
Elle is the elegant and beautifully controls daughter of governor who piloted the youth program. She must always be groomed, seen with the right people and put aside anything or anybody that might reflect poorly on the governor. But she has her own aspirations. And after meeting a must changed Drix, she finds she wants to spend time getting to know him. Not what her parents want to hear.
Read in alternating voices the story comes to life. Both narrators use of inflictions and tonality make you feel like they are the characters whose story they are sharing.
I can wholly recommend this author, the story and the audio.

Really Good :D

I've been enjoying Katie Mcgarry's books for a while and I've been anticipating this book as soon I heart about it, and I'm so glad the I did because I loved this book so much, it talked about an important issue that isn't talked about in YA literature and that is emotional abuse, when everyone is having a high expectation that you don't feel enough for anything
Drix and Elle are so adorable and so compatible with each other .. each one knows how to complete each other, so good .. and I liked it so much :))

The narration was also good and I highly recommend this audio book

Pleasantly surprised

So, as a little background, I am definitely more of a visual learner than through audio. So I didn't really have high hopes for Audible in regards to myself. However, I can now say that this was actually a great experience. The Narrator's voices fit my image of the characters perfectly, and they just did a wonderful job besides.
Also, props to the author for another awesome story. Katie McGarry is a really great author and if you haven't read other books of hers, I highly recommend them.

Do you like dog murders in romance?

*******Graphic Dog Murder warning

SAY YOU’LL REMEMBER ME is a predictable romance between a rich girl and bad boy that didn’t need a dog murder.

That’s all I have to stay.
