About this listen

March 29, 1987....

For metalheads Mike Rawson, Lonnie Deveroux, and Pork Chop, an RV road trip to Wrestlemania III becomes a one-way ticket to hell. While delivering an illegal shipment of counterfeit wrestling merchandise, an ill-fated shortcut through the Kentucky backwoods leads them to a teenaged girl carved head to toe in arcane symbols.

Soon our unlikely heroes are being hunted through the boonies by a cult of religious crazies who make the Westboro Baptists look like choirboys…a cult that will stop at nothing to get the girl back and complete a ritual that has held an ancient evil at bay for centuries… Until now.

Excellent!

Funny, gory, fast paced, and the narrator rocks it. One of my fave audiobooks of the year.

Ten Stars!

Great book all around. Howe's horror is so richly seasoned with just the right amounts of humor, camp, sleaze, nostalgia, and good, dense prose, it truly sets him apart from his peers. I've read/listened to quite a few books in this genre, and you could easily pick out the Howe in a double-blind placebo study. Along with the narrator, who's a truly top-shelf performer, this amounts to a sure-thing proposition. Put this in your shelf next to your favorite Konrath. Highly recommended!

A refreshingly unique horror thrill ride

Jason Hill is the best narrator I've ever heard. It's hard to believe he performs all of the voices himself he gives them so much character.

The story is phenomenal it starts a little slow but with good purpose. The characters are lovable and their backstories are well placed at different parts throughout.

It's hard to place a genre on this as it seems to change and I was surprised by the way things went multiple times.

It's hard to say much about the story without spoiling things but if you're okay with gorey violence and you like edge-of-your-seat thrillers you will not be disappointed!

Scapegoat will keep you wanting more till the last page.

It seemed like author’s Adam Howe and James Newman wrote this with Jason Hill in mind. If you like most of the stories from Horror Hill Jason Hill’s podcast you’ll love this backwoods romp down memory lane with a few supernatural twists and a few fart jokes thrown in. Jason Hill’s narration is spot on and phenomenal as usual. Love this book and Jason Hill.

I'm at the end already?!?! 😫. 🤘😈👹⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I hit chapter 50 last night. went to look at how many were left and realized it was almost over! I was so bummed! This was great. The only reason I found it and listened was because of Jason Hill. I listen to the Horror Hill religiously and Chilling Tales for Dark Nights specifically to hear his stories. I LOVED Knuckle Supper (check it out if you haven't). I will try and listen to anything that man narrates. He just sells the characters so well.

The book itself was great! I'm not squeemish so the violence and blood didn't really take me over the edge however there were at least a couple times I thought "holy shit!" It's just a great book. Fun to listen too, fast paced, exciting and extremely entertaining. The ending... hahaha. Good job boys! Way to come full circle with it. I was completely satisfied with the ending. Usually I'm stuck begging for more (I still am) but it was a solid ending if it never picks up from there. You won't be disappointed.
