About this listen

After playing Online together for years, Jason and his friends are excited about the possibilities of the emerging technology of Full-Immersion Virtual Reality, aka FIVR. Preparing for the release of The World, Jason is determined to help his friends realize their dream of becoming pro gamers.

Choosing a 'Nightmare' start to get ahead of the wave of new players starting the game, Jason finds himself alone in the wild tasked with saving a group of refugees from goblin invaders. Although he manages to save the survivors, that's just the beginning of his trials as he desperately fights to bring them back from the edge of annihilation.

Jason is quickly swept up in the adventure as he struggles to build a home for his guildmates and the NPCs that he’s saved. As the trouble heats up, he quickly discovers that marauding goblins are the least of his concerns.

Warning: This is a LitRPG story and contains adult situations, foul language, MMORPG-style violence, and other fun things. Listen at your own risk.

so the only problem i had with the book and i dont know if it was the narrator or the author but terms and pronunciations were wrong sometimes. i.e he said he took a bow(as in a thing with which you shoot arrows) instead of bow (to bend at the waist as a show of respect) and he kept calling mmos morgues. ive NEVER heard them called that and ive been playing mmos since eq1. otherwise pretty food story

only problem is

I get the whole world building thing, but this book just doesn't progress like it should. Too much time spent giving every detail and description to an unnecessary level. Then it just ends when the main story should be getting started. A bit disappointed to be honest.

A long winded intro to something with potential...

Jason is a past master of the same but different that makes people love genre fiction. His story has fresh characters in a fresh setting with fresh plots, while honoring the games and tropes and wonder that made so many of us fall in love with tabletop and video game RPG's. Very well done.

I enjoyed the start of this book, so far it seems to have great potential its not isekai like I thought however it still has a litrpg/ rpgmmmo theme and I enjoyed it.

I loved it

A little tough to get through in some parts but other wise enjoyable and epic in others. A mixed case. Four stars!

Could be better. Longer even.

I’m going to listen to the next book but I’m hoping it’s not entirely a dungeon run

Odd ending

My library of LitRPG novels is extensive and I now have a favorite. Jason creek knocked it out of the park and now I am power leveling through the series
