Publisher's summary

Fifteen-year-old Izzy Brannick was trained to fight monsters. For centuries, her family has hunted magical creatures. But when Izzy's older sister vanishes without a trace while on a job, Izzy's mom decides they need to take a break. Izzy and her mom move to a new town, but they soon discover it's not as normal as it appears. A series of hauntings has been plaguing the local high school, and Izzy is determined to prove her worth and investigate. But assuming the guise of an average teenager is easier said than done. For a tough girl who's always been on her own, it's strange to suddenly make friends and maybe even have a crush. Can Izzy trust her new friends to help find the secret behind the hauntings before more people get hurt?

Loved It

Loved it as much as I did the trilogy.
A different narrative would have been nice though. I adore Cris Dukehart's voice. But a different voice for a new storyline would have worked.

Nice start

A new girl at school but not long enough to build a believable school scenario. A kiss and a quick adoption. But the death thing. Why do vampire slayer ghost killer stories always forget that police reports, forensics, autopsies etc are essential parts of a dead body or at least a missing persons situation, even if she is a witch?

Start of a spin off

The Hex Hall series is not only a fantastic read for young readers but a well-developed world.

School Spirits is a spin-off of the main story from the original three books. I find that reading this story very entertaining. I would say an understanding and reading of the first three books is important to fully understand the story due to character development in the other books. With that in mind, the story is overall very intriguing to listen to. I would suggest this to other readers. The performance is good for a book for young adults and younger readers and easy to listen to.

The story while easy to follow and can be seen to where things for the characters would be going by the author. In a magic-based world, it would be nice to see a way for magic to intertwined with the characters more. I hope that the story is eventually continued.
