Publisher's summary

A unique and validating look at the tension you feel between disillusionment and a desire for truth, Searching for Enough helps you see your doubt not as an emotion to fear but as an invitation to be followed.

Do you ever find yourself thinking, "I'm not enough, and I'm never going to be. And I know I'm not supposed to say this, but God's not enough for me either."

Whether or not we attend church, deep down we wonder if the biblical story of faith is really enough for the complexity of the world in which we live. We fill our lives with other things, hoping that maybe the next experience or accomplishment will complete us. Yet with every goal we reach, we still feel discouraged and anxious.

In Searching for Enough, Pastor Tyler Staton draws on ancient and modern insights to introduce us, as if for the first time, to Jesus' disciple Thomas: history's most notorious skeptic. Like Thomas, we are caught between two unsatisfying stories: We want to believe in God but can't reconcile his presence with our circumstances and internal struggles.

But what if there's a better story than shame? What if there's redemption so complete that there's nothing left to hide? What if there is a God who can heal your resentments, fears, and loneliness in such a profound way that you feel whole?

From a place of spiritual companionship and deep authenticity, Tyler shows us that it is not an empty tomb that will change our lives, but the presence of the living God. Whether you are a distant skeptic, an involved doubter, or a busy but bored Christian, Searching for Enough invites you to find enough in a God who offers the only promises that never disappoint.

Raw and Truth

I really like the stories that bring us to the intersections we all have where we have to choose or just go along with the spur of the moment and hope for the best. I pray I will remember the many jewels in this book as I journey home.

it was written for me (nihilist former atheist)

I have read many of the atheist books and philosophical books that lead me to believe life could not possibly have any verifiable meaning. but recently I took a chance on christianity again. I feel like this book was written specifically for me, to challenge my beliefs and question my rational mind to just look at my heart and the world god designed to draw me close to his heart. creations deepest truth is that God loves me. loves us. our lives have meaning and he is calling to you and had called me to the table of joy with him
thank you so much tyler

A great book

Very good teaching and a greater understanding of what is enough and give us something to take to him to start shifting and filtering out. Thank you.

Affirming.

Tyler says what 100 other people are thinking but won’t say. Especially when it pertains to doubt and churchianity. Thank you for allowing Father to use you to set hearts free to take the raw and uncut truths of our fallen thinking to Him. This is indeed spiritual food for the soul thus deeply transformative. You cannot get it all in one pass. Grab the audiobook and let the author speak to you like a dear friend. Grace and Peace to all who come across this gift from above.

Gifted!

Tyler Staten is an incredible gift to the world. Somehow he seems to have lived twice as long as his age suggests. His wisdom and humility shine in this work and inspire me to not just have people see God in me, but to experience Him through me.

listened twice in a row

Tyler is so engaging and this book really flew by.
It is written for anyone who really struggles with their faith, and especially seems to rotate around doubt, looking at it from various angles. He does a character analysis of the infamous doubting Thomas; covering him like you have probably not heard before. This book is not only worth reading - maybe two times in a row - by you if you feel like you identify with Thomas... but to those who want to gain a deeper empathy for others who really struggle with their perception of themselves and with God. Maybe, after reading this, the church can open up space to discuss this prevalent situation more. One-on-ones are probably ideal, but imagine if we were all prepared to hear someone bravely confess this at church. Either way, I feel more equipped by many of the memorable explanations of Jesus' response.

My husband could not stop going on about Tyler's other book, 'Praying like Monks...' so that will have to be next.
