About this listen

Warning: This book contains dark themes, including violence of a sexual and physical nature that could trigger emotional distress in listeners.

Chloe Parker has the world at her feet. Her career in magazine publishing is flourishing and she's about to marry the man of her dreams, billionaire philanthropist Miles Durant.

But one month before her wedding, she receives a countdown card. No sender. No return address. No message. Only a piece of lace stained with blood. As the wedding gets closer, the cards keep coming. Every day, without fail.

It seems, while she's counting down to the happiest day of her life, someone is doing a countdown of their own. Chloe fears she's in danger, but she can't turn to the cops for help. There's something in her past she wants to remain hidden - a dark secret that could destroy the life of her dreams.

To make things worse, Miles is becoming increasingly impatient and suspicious about her past, to the point where he's so angry that he becomes a man she doesn't recognize.

While working to keep her relationship intact, Chloe must find out who wants to hurt her before she loses everything - or ends up dead.

Cloe is a self centered egotistical self riotous woman. who publishes other people secrets without one ounce of regret that she just might be ruining someone's life. turns out she has a huge secret herself. talk about double standard. I found it hard to feel sorry for her at all.
it was kind of frustrating being "left in the dark" and nothing is said until the very last chapter then it's over. not really my type of book.
The narrator Cindy Harden is great.

What a story! Chloe has secrets that refuse to stay in the past and what becomes of her life now is filled with suspense and page turning reveals little by little. My mind was thinking so many different scenarios for more then half this book and when it all began to click my jaw was left on the floor. We’re left with a cliffhanger that will have you dying to jump into book two right away.

It ended with a scary cliff hanger. I definitely have to get the next book.

Fast paced and couldn't stop reading if I wanted to. The ending was a shock, but left too many unanswered plot lines. Enjoyed the short read.

I am not sure what I think of this book. The story is well-conceived and related well by the narrator. The ending caught me by surprise. The horror of it, and the unanswered questions left me cold.

Scary with a cliffhanger ending

It was hard to rate this book. I was so bored at some points while listening that I almost fell asleep but toward the end I was on the edge of my seat as I felt the twist coming on. I had an idea of what might happen and I wasn't too far off but that twist was right at the end and then it was over, leaving you to buy the next book to hear any more. The narration was great, no problems there, but the content throughout this first book felt like total fluff. I began to wonder if this story could have been told in two or maybe even just one book if the others are the same. Just so much extra information that it made me doubt if it was worth it but I'm giving the second book a chance because I believe it can be a great book and story if it picks up at this point. We will see...

Good but some flaws...
