About this listen

When Persephone Lancaster receives a marriage proposal from the ill-tempered Duke of Kielder, she refuses - and then reconsiders. The obscene sum of money he's offering Persephone would save her family from ruin. With her characteristic optimism, she travels to the far reaches of Northumberland to wed a greatly feared stranger.

Lodged deep in a thick forest infested with wild dogs, the Duke's castle is as cold and forbidding as the Duke himself, a man with terrible scars on his body and his soul. But the Duke's steely determination to protect his heart at all costs is challenged by his growing attachment to his lovely and gentle bride. With caring persistence, Persephone attempts to pierce the Duke's armor and reach the man beneath. Yet, he cannot tolerate such exposure, and his repeated rejections take their toll. But when grave danger arises, the Duke realizes he must face the risk of revealing his true feelings or lose the woman he cannot live without.

Loved the light banter between Adam and his best friend. I laughed out loud with some of their comments. A grumpy Duke who has not felt loved by even his mother and actually felt abandoned, ridiculed by others for his scars and a recluse falls Eventually in love with a quiet, respectful and persistent heroine. Quite a nice story. Even had a villain for added excitement :). Loved the ending, however, I wish this book was a bit longer. Would have loved to have another chapter to read where all comes to an even happier ending with a bit more closure. I do not believe I have ever read a book (even Christian) where not even a kiss was passed between the hero and heroine (until the last 2 minutes of the story that is), but it did not take away from the gloriousness at all. <3

Delightful Adam

Covenant please get new narrators! This book was good but even the writing couldn’t save it from a lackluster performance. This narrator isn’t bad - just not right for regency. I love the proper romance drama and audiobooks. Please get more appropriate narrators for your genres.

Good story, narration lacks

I've been listening to a ton of audio books lately and this one has been my favorite!

I loved the humor of Adam's horrible moods and the exploration of his inner child that peeks through his fierce facade, and Persephone's courage and compassion with him. Basically a Beauty and the Beast story. I wish it had been a 12 hour listen instead of 8 with a few more sweet kisses/moments! Such a sweet story.

Narrator wasn't my all time favorite, but definitely close to the top of the list. She did great. All around great clean entertainment!

Ended too soon! I want more!!! 😍😍😍

I was worried about the narrator, she reads way too fast. I really wanted to read this book however I loved the story idea! So I purchased the book and slowed it down to 0.9 and sure enough the reading was perfect! Don’t let the narrators quick pay scare you off just slow her down lol.

Fabulous!

If you could sum up Seeking Persephone in three words, what would they be?

I loved the story, had a bit of humor and suspense. I do prefer books with a stronger faith development. If I am going to use precious time listening to something I want to feel more inspired to draw closer to Christ.

What did you like best about this story?

Adam! He is my favorite character. I like that the sequel includes him. I love how he has this dangerous reputation that he has projected because of his physical tragedy, yet he is a gentle soul on the inside. His actions helped me understand how peoples actions are sometimes a result of insecurity

What about Aubrey Warner’s performance did you like?

Does the voices well!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Adams roughness made me laugh once I realized his motive.

Good story, great character developement.
