About this listen

Can ordinary people survive the apocalypse? Raine Caldwell is about to find out.

The government isn’t coming to rescue her. If Raine and her group are going to make it, they must save themselves.

The realization that the lights weren’t coming back on any time soon hit Raine hard. After she discovers the National Guard has been told to pull back from the city and the shelter was running out of food, she and her group are forced to flee the mall before the other refugees begin to panic. Fleeing back onto the frozen streets of St. Louis was the last thing Raine wanted to do, but staying at the Red Cross shelter was no longer an option.

When things go from bad to worse, Raine and the group must work together as they seek refuge in the cold and violent city.

Seeking Refuge is book two in T. L. Payne’s Gateway to Chaos series.

Stacey continues to impress. No worries there. The story? There are just too many characters and few of them memorable. You can tell the author is struggling to make significance of each. Still, Scott, J.J., and Reine are all of great importance, but when they are together one of the three is taking a backseat and the significance of their character up to that point is seemingly no more.

Kind of Meh...to be honest

Overall I liked this story. This was a post apocalyptic story about everyday people who are not preppers who use what skills they have with persistence to survive. I did struggle to keep some of the characters straight but the important characters were memorable. I've completed all of the books released so far (1-4) and am glad I did.

I am here in the second book... that should tell you that this is a great series... no one would be crazy enough to buy a second book if the first one was horrible. hahaha read at your own risk! Love this!

Only Scott is a worthy character, the rest are just there to add to the story and not very well. And I really can’t get into apocalypse stories that have some side story going on, like this one about the cartel chasing a woman, JJ, whose not likable anyway. As if when an EMP happens the cartel is gonna still give a crap about someone who knows some secret about something that no longer matters. And lastly the other main female character is so wishy washy. Done with this series.

Characters aren’t really likable
