Publisher's summary

Peggy Iverson fears working at the camp with Gavin McKenzie, but she agrees to it since he convinces her he is a new man. Gavin is counseled by Reverend Billy Croft, and learns some truths that change his life. He hates that Peggy fears him, and he sets out to show her he is reborn in Christ. One thing leads to another at camp, and he ends up asking Peggy if he can court her in order to convince Violet to forgive and forget, but he falls in love with Peggy in the process. Violet gives him an impossible ultimatum, instead. Which offer will he chose?

REDEMPTION!

This is a redemption story, pure and simple. And if you read it as a standalone it will be an intriguing and compelling tale. But, honestly, you really want to read the prequels to enjoy the magnitude of redemption with which we are dealing and understand the depths of strain the interrelationships among the characters has caused. I have been so fortunate as to read the entire series in order and watch various characters mature through time, becoming familiar with the town and some of its leading families. One could sit in the next pew, nod graciously, and feel like one of the community by now. Ms Goss' trademark exploration of character as played out against the struggles to build towns in the west is again well displayed by the smooth narration of Tristan Wright [AUDIO].

Redemption is for everyone

This book surprised me a bit as the main characters, Gavin and Peggy, were the antagonists in previous books. Gavin attacked Violet in a previous book, but has since sought counseling of the church pastor and asked God for forgiveness. We learn more of Peggy's back story in this book and learn that home life is tough and she wants nothing more than to have a relationship and marriage and to be a mother.
Peggy is a bit unsure about working with Gavin at the children's camp knowing what she knows about her past, but she puts her concerns aside for the sake of the children and gives Gavin a chance. Peggy and Gavin become friends, but before it becomes more serious, Gavin is convinced that he needs to confess his past to Peggy's mother as well as ask Violet for forgiveness for his past indiscretions. Forgiveness comes hard for some and it isn't until Gavin is wounded while protecting people in the town that full forgiveness is extended.
Excellent book showing the power or forgiveness.

Shadow of Second Chances

Shadow of Second Chances
: Barbara Goss

This is book 6 in the Shadow series. In this historical fiction the listener is asked when is foregivness not enough. Another romance blooms but is complicated by past mistakes. When a life changing event happens, even more twists are thrown in. It's good to see familiar faces in the mix.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Tristan Wright does a good job voicing this book.

Second Chances and forgiveness

Another fantastic historical romance by Barbara Goss!

With this being book 6 in The Shadow Series, we get to revisit many of the characters from the prior books. Don't let that scare you off though... Shadow of Second Chances certainly stands on its own.

I experienced a few minor hiccups in the audio, but other than that the narration was really good.

Conquering hardships

In this story we revisit what was a very troubled person's life, Gavin's, and see the changes he and his faith have made to not only his life, but to that of the people around him. He slowly conquers all the hardships thrown at him and finds a steady and beautiful life and love with Peggy.
This book is beautifully written with many touching scenes in it. Barbara Goss' talent is such that she takes you from hating what Gavin did in a previous story to liking or even loving the new man.
Tristan Wright is so talented with a really amazing voice and such fantastic control of it too. His use of it is so amazing that I really had to listen carefully to make sure that his female interpretations were not in fact done by another person.
What an amazing team he and Barbara Goss have turned out to be! A great story and a fantastic interpretation of it. Thank you.
