About this listen

A fatally dangerous man...and the woman who stands in the way of all he's ever desired.

Beautiful and ruthless, the elegant assassin Allegreto will stop at nothing to regain his rightful place. And the perfect instrument has just fallen into his hands, in the lovely form of Lady Elena - the long-lost princess of the land he intends to wrest back from his enemies. But she is no mere maiden to be possessed. Even as he forces her to bend to his will, in the heat of desire and fury Elena finds the hidden power in her own soul, a merciless passion and command that will bind her dark lover and bring him to his knees. Her mastery may destroy him…or build an unexpected future from the bitter ashes of his life and dreams.

Loved this story! Another divine narration by Nicholas Boulton. I read "FMLH" just before and loved the characters and their development throughout the series.

Loved it!!

This story is so excellently written. It’s full of intrigue, passion, brutality, suspense, love, rivalry, and so much more. The tale itself is one of love. But the circumstances, and the author’s remarkable ability to weave a story, keeps you enthralled... is rare and exceptional. I listened to this book on Audible, and it added yet another dimension to my enjoyment because the narrator was able to bring every emotion to the surface. I highly recommend this book, and further I highly recommend you enjoy it on Audible.

Wow! What a tale

I love Laura Kinsale, the narrator, and her characters, but the violence with intimacy was not a good fit for me.

Too violent for me - but I'm sensitive

This was an amazing listen!! Great story! It was a sequel to For My Lady’s Heart, which was a tough listen. The olde English narration was fine, the story was very slow to start, with what seemed like pages and pages of descriptive narrative that made me loose interest. But, Shadowheart was thrilling and had great characters and as always narrated by the amazing Nicholas Boulton who brought them to life. You can listen to Shadowheart without listening to For My Lady’s Heart, but it’s not a complete lost to listen to it first. You will the anticipation of a great story ahead.

Extraordinary!!! Very Well Written & Performed!

It is adventurous and far fetching at the begging, but it lagged towards the end and became a little frustrating but hang in there because its a wonderful ending. The narrator has a great voice and the female dominance thing really was not bad it was sexy and different

Sooo good

With many romance series with a fantastic book, I've grown to expect them to fall off, for the later books to not be as compelling as the ones I most fell in love with. I expect there to be the same tropes, similar characters, similar conflicts, only with more strained charm than the last, leaving me to wishing for more of the previous book instead of a new one. Not so with this. This book shocked me in that it was so different from the one before it, but it swept me up and I fell in love with the characters just as fiercely as the one before it. I was most surprised that the somewhat unlikeable young character from the previous book, Allagretto, blooms into a charming, dangerous rogue that is somehow just as endearing as the gallant Ruck was from the book before.

And all the love for Nicholas Boulton who brings them to life so perfectly.

One of my all time favorites

This really is a sequel to For My Lady’s Heart. It is best read in succession with that one. Some of the fight scenes were a bit long for me so I skipped them, but overall I enjoyed them both very much. 👍👍

I really enjoyed this novel of ancient ritual, war love and dedication. The characters are complex and the narration - as with all Nicholas Boulton works - was fabulous.

An excellent medieval romance!

It turned out to be one of my favorites. I find I don't have the right words to say how much I enjoyed this book. All I can say is this was a well-written book, and this author always has a way of using words that makes the passion and love between the two characters almost seem tangible. And Allegretto just simply took my breathe away! I am glad I got this book. Its a must-read for any one who enjoys a complex, yet profound love story.

BEAUTIFUL AND TOUCHING STORY!

If you could sum up Shadowheart in three words, what would they be?

Exciting, unpredictable, hot

Who was your favorite character and why?

I really liked Elena, she began as an innocent girl and grew to an splendid woman.

Any additional comments?

Yes, there was pain, but not that much, she just uses her fingers and teeth. Allegreto is such a man, he always tries to protect Elena at all cost.
