About this listen

Randy Wayne White is a journalist, veteran fishing guide, and author of several nonfiction collections. He also creates superb, best-selling suspense fiction. His novels have received the highest praise from Library Journal and Booklist, and from authors like Carl Hiassen, who says, "Randy Wayne White takes us places that no other Florida mystery writer could hope to find."

Marine biologist Doc Ford is spending two easy weeks on luxurious Guava Key compiling data. But when two young women at the resort are attacked, Doc comes to their rescue. In an instant, he is pulled into an international plan of revenge that becomes more deadly with each passing hour. Now, Doc isn’t counting fish--he’s adding up his chances for survival. Shark River’s eye-popping chases, eccentric characters, and taut suspense are all seasoned with a rich, dark humor that heightens the irony of Doc’s predicament. From its astonishing first sentence to the final punchline, this book is sure to grab every listener in its powerful grip.

Doc Ford revealed.

This is an extremely entertaining story. It's the 6th or 7th in the series. It answers all questions pertaining to Doc Ford's cryptic past. This is a great book to read to get to know the series.

great yarn in the series-good stand alone thriller

Randy Wayne wright paints a great picture of modern Florida and old Florida with a historical perspective. there's things to learn in his novels from fishing problems to old Florida style to contemporary conundrum that face Florida, besides a really good thriller that takes twists and turns if you've been reading it from the beginning or so great flashbacks of different characters throughout the book but it's also good read by itself the performance in audiobooks was entertaining and made for good listening.

Actually lived the life on Sanibel and Captiva

Having fished the waters from Boca Grande to Everglades City I find Randy Whites books real. What I enjoy the most is even though the stories are fiction were they take place are real and I have been there. His books are extremely well written and are the best I have read.

Annoying narrator

The story is good, and if the narrator could silence his mouth noises, this would be a good book. Trying to block out every moistening of the narrators lips, swallowing, and inhalations is disgusting and annoying. The noises are so bad that it’s hard to concentrate on the story.

Shark River as a gateway

I read Shark River when it was first released. It was the first book by Randy Wayne White I’d read. I immediately went back to the first in the series and have read every one since. I’ve also given Shark River to many friends and colleagues and have seen it have the same affect on them. It has proven to be a powerful gateway to the work of Randy Wayne White!

The story in Shark River is compelling, the writing style is endlessly entertaining and the characters and setting extremely well developed.

I’ve wanted to get an Audible book for some time. I finally downloaded my first. And true to form, it had to be Shark River. Listening to the performance of the book was as much fun as I’d hoped it would be. I will now start to build an Audible library. Once again, Shark River has shown its gateway properties.
