About this listen

Betrayed by the love of her life at 16, causing her to flee her home, Amber Daniels’ taste in men hasn’t improved over time. With a bitter divorce under her belt, she returns home to support her sisters and dying mother.

It takes one day before she finds herself in trouble with the local werewolves and being rescued by her childhood crush. One hot look and the pain returns...overshadowed only by the desire. But Amber’s older, wiser, and unwilling to be burned, yet again.

Desmon Nightwind was an angry youth the night his world exploded and he lost his mate. Now pack alpha, he’s no longer an untried teen, but still wholly unprepared for Amber’s return to Hollow Mountain. He lost her once. No amount of pack politics, family strife, or alpha obligations will make him let her go a second time.

He’ll do whatever it takes to claim and protect his human mate. Even battle neighboring wolves using anything at their disposal to start a war. They don’t fight fair...and neither will Desmon.

I've listened to quite a shocking number of Laurann Dohner's books. She really knows how to set the stage in a way that a variety of characters can take center stage in individual books. I enjoy the series books because, as a reader, you get a feel for the atmosphere, the setting, and the supporting characters that can't be had in stand-alone editions.

Shattered is no exception in the writing, character development, and setting. Regrettably, it is an exception when it comes to production values. In early chapters, the voices were clearly added later -- the volume, tone, and intonation were not in sync with the storyline. It was off-putting and, at times, made me lurch for the volume control. In too many (three that I can recall) later chapters, the audio cuts off the character's last few words.

While I can fill in the blanks and surmise the conversational intent, it rips me out of the story and back to my reality, which is the last thing I want in a fantasy romance novel. Hello? I'm here to escape, remember? The technical difficulties are such that I hesitate to collect any more of Ms. Dohner's books. I want to cocoon myself in the fantasy, not leap up to adjust the volume.

I can only hope that Ms. Dohner or Ms. Moon read these reviews since I have no way to contact either on their websites. I certainly hope that they find the production company that can provide them with a quality product.

A good read, marred by technical difficulties.

Loved the story, and performance by the narrator. However, there's an issue of muting of a few words in the later chapters. It isn't a problem that occurs all throughout the book, only a handful of times towards the end. Hope someone can get it fixed soon!

Couldn't wait to devour this one!

I loved this book! Great story, but I wish it would have been longer. I didn’t listen to the first book, so I’m going to now.

Great Listen!

Such a good sequel to Claimed. Hopefully the next one won't take so long to write. I love this series. Kele Moon and Laurann Dohner make a great team.

Worth the wait!

near the end of the story during build up to the fight and what happens to the pack. The book starts skipping words. sometimes several words at a time. Which in turn took away from the story. Besides this one issues the story was very enjoyable to listen too.

near the end

I had a major problem with the narration. There were glitches in the story that started in Chapter 12. Prior to that, I heard feet dragging in the background. I was really annoyed when there were missed words towards the end. I like to get the full service I paid for. Overall, it was full of action, drama, and a steamy romance. I was able to identify with the characters and I conveyed some of the emotion experienced by Desmond and the injustice against him and his mate. I can't wait to continue the saga. I hope the narration is better next time.

I love this Story with Desmond

Wish we were given a bundle for the credit. 6 hours is more on the short side. Normally I wouldn’t waste my monthly credit on a 6 hour audible book but returned another book this month because it was torture to try to listen to it any longer !!! I’ve had audible for at least 5 years and I’ve only returned books a total of two times one of them I mistakenly bought the inside bloodlines and family trees of all the Houses of GOT which I am a fan but not that hard core of a fan!! So no I did not return this book it was good, just very short!

Short and sweet

The narration could’ve been better I like the way the new species books were narrated, I think it would’ve greatly helped this book along. I liked the happy ending it’s a good book with other avenues to follow which makes for a good series. There were times when the book narration just blanked out a few times in secession making you miss points in conversations but not so bad that you can’t follow where it was going. Overall I will continue to listen to the series. This collaboration between my favorite author and a new to me author Ms. Moon, I think I will enjoy.

It was a good book
