Publisher's summary

Romance is the last thing Shaun wants, but what if it’s exactly what he needs - and deserves?

A selfless son barely holding on.

Shaun doesn’t have much of a life. When he’s not working in the restaurant in Portland, Maine, he’s home looking after his dad, who has dementia. The only people he sees on a regular basis are his coworkers, and Nathan, his dad’s in-home nurse - except he and Shaun are like ships that pass in the night. And on those dark nights, when Shaun feels so alone, thoughts of Nathan are all he has to cling to.

A caring nurse.

It didn’t take Nathan five minutes to know that Shaun is a special guy. He’s dealt with enough indifferent families to recognize Shaun has - and will always - put his dad first. That’s why Nathan is willing to go above and beyond - Shaun is worth it. Nathan’s attraction to him has to go on the back burner, not that Shaun has noticed: Shaun’s focus is all on his dad.

Maybe it’s time for Nathan to convince Shaun he can keep that focus and still have a life - a life that includes love.

Exceptional Story & Narration🎧 Beautifully Moving!

This beautifully written story hits very close to home for me and to be honest I was not sure I was going to be ready for it but I went in with an open mind, open-heartedly too. K.C. Wells is a gifted author and I’ve listened to and loved many of her books, but I have to say this one moved me like no other and it is one of her best. The characters and storylines are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to like and care about too. I walked in Shaun’s shoes so I know exactly what he was going thru with his Dad, it is heartbreaking to watch Alzheimers rob a loved one’s memories and so much more. K.C Wells keeps it all real and does not hold back, you can feel the emotions pour off of these pages and straight into your heart. Shaun’s dad, Peter, had a nurse with an enormous heart and he turned out to be Shaun’s rock and the saving grace that helped him get thru the gut wrenching times. Shaun was there for his father for many years, he lived his life with consideration to his father’s illness and his needs. Now he needs to learn to live life for himself, find what he wants to do with his life, one thing he knows is how he feels about Nathan. Despite their age differences, the two have grown close, but Shaun is not sure if Nathan is interested in an inexperienced younger guy. I loved watching Shaun and Nathan’s relationship grow, it was a wonderfully heartwarming outcome after all they went thru and their loss. Nathan’s Mom was amazing, loved his family too. It was great to see the rest of the Maine Men again too. K.C. Wells, thank you for this beautifully moving story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, K.C. Wells cast the perfect narrator to bring her story and characters to life. John Solo is a superbly talented voice artist and versatile voice artist. He had a complete understanding of the characters he portrayed, gave each a voice that fit the character’s persona, sounding believable in every role he played and just as I pictured the characters to sound. I loved how he took each role and made it his own. You could hear how much heart he put into his performance as he captures all the characters’ emotions and projects them into his performance, allowing you to feel every single one. John Solo is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Slow burn story of friendship, grief and love

Shaun’s Salvation audiobook by K.C. Wells and narrated by John Solo was given to me in exchange for an honest review.. I loved this slow burn wonderful book about Nathan, the home nurse for Shaun’s father who understands what Shaun was going through but also wanted to be there for him after the loss and give him the life he put on hold to be there for his father. Make sure you have your tissues at hand because this was a rollercoaster of emotions but so worth it to see Shaun come out of his shell and open up to his friends and his heart to Nathan.
K.C. has done a wonderful job of giving us a peek at just how devastating Alzheimers can be to the patient as well as family members who are also caretakers. John Solo was wonderful in giving a voice and emotion to Shaun’s devastation of losing his dad. He is an amazing narrator and is perfect for this story as well all of the previous books in this series.

Tears and Smiles

I have read and listened to all the books in the Maine Men series and this one is up there with the rest of them. I would classify this one as one of Ms Wells' "bittersweet" tales. You will smile at the end with the HEA, but be warned, tears will be shed along the way. John Solo does a fantastic job narrating this one. Listening to all five audiobooks he provides a unifying tone, but each one is different, and thoroughly enjoyable.

All the stars...All the feels

This was a wonderful story that was both emotional and heartbreaking yet sweet and moving. It was beautifully and sensitively written. The characters were wonderful, well developed and loveable. They had wonderful chemistry together. This was a great no angst, hurt/comfort story that was a very slow burn. There is very little physical heat given the circumstances of the plot but there is so so much emotional chemistry. I absolutely loved this story. It was sad but beautiful. It reminded me alot of my nan who also passed on from alzheimers and I knew it was going to be a hard read but I also knew it would be fabulous written by KC and I wasn't disappointed. I absolutely would recommend it, just keep the subject matter in mind and grab your tissues. I can't wait to read the next book.

Feelings

I love the way you can see that Nathan and Shaun have been building a friendship. Shaun has been focused on his dad's care so it's nice that Nathan does want to provide care for him. I like how Shaun's friends also try to be there for him. This is another great story and I can't wait for the next story.
I listened to the audio version and it was well done and enjoyable.

Shaun and Nathan

Shaun's Salvation is Book 5 in the Maine Men series. This is a beautifully written emotional story about Shaun, who's caring for his dad, Peter in the last stages of Alzheimer's, and Nathan, Shaun's dad's in-home nurse. Have tissues handy you may need them. I love this series. I seem to learn something in each book, and this one was no exception. I'm glad Nathan found his way to be Peter's in-home nurse. He has a gentle and caring soul, and just the kind of person both Peter and Shaun needed. I really felt for Shaun who had lost his mother and now was having to watch as a horrible disease took his father. I love the connection between Nathan and Shaun. There's a loving energy between them and something they couldn't deny. I love how Nathan's family embraces Shaun and wouldn't let him be alone for the holidays. Though Nathan and Shaun met under difficult circumstances, their love for each other is really sweet and tender. I definitely recommend this book and series.
Narrator John Solo does an amazing job in bringing this emotional, loving story to life.
